So do you mean actually hitting the rev limiter, or just taking it up to red line. I take it to the red line whenever I get a good chance, and I've hit the rev limiter from time to time (i've forgotten i'm in manumatic from before).

Interesting...

We're not talking street racing here...

If you knew how to drive you car you would never hit the rev limitter, or only hit it as a fluke or for some other weird reason.

Everytime i feel like doing a spirited 0-60 i'll bounce it off the rev limiter (which is atleast 3 times a week)

It's not quite pointless. I created to see what kind of drivers we have out here. It doesn't matter if your car is stock or not. :-)

Icab, i think you worded your question wrong. Do you want to know how often people miss the next gear and hit the rev limiter? Or do you want to know how often people lay into the throttle and go up to redline, instead of shifting at 3-4k rpm?

He was saying he was surprised at how many people have not redLINEd their car... although i'm not sure if that is what the poll is asking or not.

I guess I didn't think it would have generated this much confusion. :-) I was *not* talking about redlining it. Yes, I was asking about hitting the REV limiter (limits your maximum RPM the maximum the engine is capable of so you don't screw up your engine. It's in the redline range and it's beyond the beginning of your redline. Redlining your car does not mean hitting the rev limiter. hope that's clear now hehe) and I'm starting to think a lot of people replied thinking I was asking about redlining.

In my opinion, there's no reason to hit the rev limiter (and I haven't), but who knows, I'm sure there are people on this forum that drift, people that take their cars to a track, people that want to know how fast they can go in a given gear, etc...

Well, I'm a new guy on this forum, so go easy on me. :P

Well then I'll have to say I hit it once when I wasn't paying attention. Certainly not something I strive to do.
