So I got into an accident in my G tonight...

Well to put it simple, I was an effing idiot. I was taking a turn a little hot and it got bumpy at the end which was enough to pick the back end up enough to start losing traction and the back end slid out and I slid into a bunch of bushes. The road was a bit cold, and after I slid off of it, it was on icy grass, which made it so I couldn't stop really. I just barely missed a fire hidrant and a bunch of road signs, so the damage could've been a lot worse. The trees scraped the car up a bit, and there's a few small dings in the rear quarter panel. Also the side strake on the front of the side skirt tore off. The fender is a little bent out of shape as well. I felt like such a piece of crap after... I immediately called my gf to tell her about it and assure her I was alright. Luckily, my friends in the car and I are alright, but it still sucks that the car's pretty effed. I'm estimating around $1500 in damage/paint including labor, but I'm hoping my friend will be able to help me out in paint/labor, and I'll be able to get the parts at cost through my work. I'm still shaken up and it's over 3hrs after it all happened. My friends think that some of the scruffs can be just buffed out, so I let one of them take the car for the night to see what they can do.

Here's the kicker: right before it slid out, my 'VDC OFF' and 'SLIP' lights came on. I didn't rpess any buttons or anything, they just came on. They've been doing that for a few months now at random times, but it didn't affect my driving like it did tonight.

sorry to hear man, be careful out there. tons of ice all over the country. The lights comin on may mean your pads are low or your brake fluid is low. good luck with the repairs.

This car is very tail happy. This should be a lesson to you ( as it was to me), be very gentle on the throttle on turns. Chirp 2nd, chirp 3rd, go fast all you want, but do it on a STRAIGHT, not on a turn.

YES, so true. I've had to discipline myself to not hit the gas on a turn like I used to with the WRX..completely different driving styles...i was getting onto a highway and hit the gas a little too hard in the middle of a turn...thank god for VDC as I almost got sideways with it on (the roads were still a little wet from fog the night before)...I would have been in a horrible accident..its scary to feel the back end get loose and start sliding in a traffic situation...
