The Hawk HPS pads are fine. I just replaced the pads myself the other day. Broke them in properly, as recomended by the manufacturer. Initial bite is good. Of course they are not as good as the Brembo pads, but work very well. The difference on the amount of break dust is significant and noticeable.

It all depends on what you are looking for. There's also a DIY to replace the brake pads that is very helpful, just search in the Tech area for Hawk.

I have the Hawk HPS pads in the front & rear Brembos on my 04.5 6MT.

They have been in for almost a year. There is no squealing if installed and bedded correctly. They grip just fine....initial grab is smooth and pull down is smooth & quick in street applications.

They installed with NO BANGING.....they dropped right into the Brembo calipers .

As far as the physical pad itself, the only difference between the HPS and the stock pads is that the HPS has no metal wear indicator tabs on them.

There is a slight amount of brake dust....I have Super Rozza's and the dust builds up a little on the huge lip but quite a bit less than the stock pads.

Are all Hawk HPS pads the same? Just curious, because I have them in my other car, and they suck ****. That's why I bought Project-Mu pads for my G.

Perhaps the Brembos in the G are just so good, it masks the initial-bite of the HPS pads, I don't know. But in my other car, you have to noticeably push the brakes much harder on initial use, but after that, they grab much better. Even my wife complained about that...

(And yes, I installed and burnished the brakes/rotors correctly.)
