New owner - 350GT from Japan

Hey all

I've been on this forums for ages, wanting and waiting for my very own coupe... well i finally got one!! I had to import one myself from Japan in the end, because they are rare here and they were all 2003 autos.

2006 Skyline 350 GT Premium 6MT
5,000 km
2,458,000 yen for car
195,000 yen for auction fee/insurance/transport to NZ

Will have my baby in 6 weeks.
This might be the only 2006 skyline in New Zealand =)

Thanks!

I can't wait till I get it. I'm gonna put on clear corners and tint it ASAP. Then further down the track I'd like to replace the front grill, add sideskirts (?impul) and also a new chin lip + lowering it. It does however cost a lot to do that especially since you have to import everything from asia to NZ.

After tax it ends up being just below USD 25,000 although i miss out on a warranty. I'm guessing warranty would cost about 2,0000 to buy. (I had to register myself as a motor vehicle dealer to buy it, so I guess I can buy a warranty @ wholesale price) Is that comparable to what you'd pay in USA?

uhm... why didn't you get the R34? I was in australia and they had a bunch of them. I'm sure they're in NZ too.

R34 GTR is a more expensive, for a mint 2000-2002 i might be paying $60,000+ NZD. that is around $35,000 USD. I thought about it, but wanted something more modern. Also they have all been raced, therefore dodgey to buy sight unseen. they are quite easy to buy here 2nd hand, here are some examples;

They do have some cool japan only extras, eg. the wing mirrors tilt when you are in reverse so you don't get curb rash when parking.

Nope, a lot of people seem to think the same since the term JDM clear corners is thrown around on these boards soo much. The fact is that it's really an acessory item.

Is this for a new 2006 skyline? Because that is very cheap for a new car.
2,458,000 yen is about $20,000 dollars for a 2006. I guess its a cheaper
car in japan? but congrats on your car. I have a 2006 coupe 6mt too.

I bought it at auction. Not sure if it is new or not. The graders graded it 5.0/5.0 and A+ interior, so it is as new condition. It has 5,000 km so it's possible it is 2nd hand. It is cheap, partly because of the risk/sight unseen, partly because cars are cheaper in japan (when you don't count the local tax added), partly because i have no longterm warranty if anything breaks, and partly because i had to register as a motor vehicle dealer... so basically i am paying the price a dealer would pay here, then they would add on their margins and warranty etc...
