G-Tech Accurate?

One of the guys at my work recently got a G-Tech and he ran some runs with it and he got around 13 secconds on his car (which is pretty much what they rate them at) and his 0-60 was right on too. He got one of the new jeep SRT-8's... what I am wondering though is when I used it (I still havent run a quarter mile yet) my 0-60 was 4.74... does that seem kind of fast for my car?

Calibrated in what way? I went through the setup and all that fun stuff... what else do I need to do. Doesnt it just time from the time you start to the time you hit 60mph?

Oh and the weight part in it is just to calculate horsepower as far as I understand... or am I missing something. It shows my RPMs and everything correctly after I set all that up.

No mods as far as I know... no exaust... no intake mods... the guy who owned it before me is older and it was well taken care of so I am guessing he wasnt too interested in the mods but who knows.

Besides adding the weight, did you do any other setup?

Changing the weight alone is not the procedure when swapping cars.

G-tech's are fairly accurate when used as a tuning device, but not accurate for measuring real world performance. The only way to know what your car really runs is to take it to the track. Don't go by what a G-tech says

All major magazines, R&T, Motor Trend and Car & Driver all use the G-Tech for testing due to its accuracy.

R&T swears by the times.

the gtec is very good from what i hear but you have to calibrate EXACTLY to your car otherwise the results are way way off. weight is a huge issue as well as a few other tweeks which im not sure about.

That my be true, but R&T also rates the G35c at 5.9sec 0-60. So something isn't right with this one. Plus a 400hp all wheel drive Jeep should kick a stock G coupe's a$$.

The charger SRT/8 runs roughly 13.2 in the 1/4 mile; so looks like the G-Tech is being a bit too optimistic, as there's no way the heavier Jeep could run the same time. There's also no way a stock G could a 0-60 in 4.74, given that the 335 (which weighs the same but has 300 rwhp) does it "only" 4.9 seconds.
