Window Problems

I have a 03 coupe and the windows are really getting on my nerves now.

I am trying to determine what it is I need to fix the problem. I called the dealership and they said either the window motor or the regulator needs replacing. So can someone tell me which one i need to buy.

Here is what the windows do.

My drivers side window normally just doesnt work. If you bang on the door after a while it will work. Or sometimes just closing the door it will start to work again. BUt you can never tell when it will stop. ANd also it seems to have trouble sometimes going down.

The passenger side window works all the time. BUt when you use the auto roll up, it will come back down half way. Sometimes when you close the passenger door too hard it will roll down half way.

SO what needs replacing. The motors or the regulators. I am trying not to have to take it to a mechanic for them to change me a lot of money just to tell me whats needed. I am outside the USA so I will have to fly to miami to get this part. Any help will be appreciated.

okay for the passenger side window do the motor reset procedure...it will definitely fix the problem...as for the the driver side it sounds like you might

need to replace the motor/regulator not sure which one...Maybe you could try doing the reset procedure there too...It couldn't hurt to try...here's the link

http://infinitihelp.com/Ownership/Bu.../ITB04-033.htm

and when you do it, remember to make sure you unplug the puddle light and to take out the screw behind the aluminum door handle bar...the actual reset

button is behind a black leather looking sticker around the gold bolts...those are the only areas you might get stuck on...

When you say the "drivers side doesnt work" what do u mean by that. If you press the button, do you hear the motor turning, or the regulator clicking ?
If not, it might be something as simple as electrical switch maybe ?

WHen i say doesnt work meaning that I try to put the window down and it does nothing. If I bang on the door a few or many times then it starts to work again. I dont hear any sounds either.

Sounds like might be electrical. If the motor or regulator went bad, you should at least hear it when you give it power. Maybe switch or connector, hard to tell though. Have the door panels ever gotten wet from rain or anything ?

no nothing out of the ordinary. I mean the window does work. BUt when it feels like working. Example would when I went to lunch just now it was working. When I got back into the car to come back to work it was not. You just never know.

I had the same problem with my 03 coupe. The dealer just replaced the window motor and regulator under warranty. This seems to be a fairly common problem. Your dealer should be aware of it by now.
