Buying mods on credit?
Nice new wheels/tires + college parking = curbed up and ruined
Having to buy wheels/tires on credit = buying new = worst deal.
If you have your heart set on wheels, save up some cash and buy used. You will probably save $1000 doing this.

Great advice on here. I bought wheels and tires for my car when I was in college too, but I paid cash and it was $1100 for wheels AND tires. This was upgrading from 15" to 17" and I needed new tires anyways.
You are already driving a G35 in college. Think about that. What's so bad about the stock wheels on the G? They're at least 17". Appreciate what you already have. You'll get over wanting to charge $3000 on wheels soon.
Don't be so cocky about starting your own business. Nothing is guranteed in life. You should pick up a Suze Orman's Young Fabuous and Broke.

Don't do it! Bad idea! Just save that money for something else. If you don't have the money to buy it don't, especially when you're in college. You never know when you will REALLY need money when you're in college.
Speaking of credit cards, I have a little credit card debt from my wedding and purchasing furniture for my condo etc, just paid one card off in full, and most of the rest is on a 0% APR and thats getting paid off pretty quickly as well.
Feels good to eliminate some debt. Ahhhh relief!

From a responsible and practical standpoint, you shouldn't. But if you're dedicated to paying it off quickly, I say go for it. You sound like a responsible kid, and maybe you should splurge on yourself a bit. You can't get HRE's, but I'm sure you can find a great deal on some nice used wheels on the forums/ebay/craigslist, etc...
I'm not going to bother with reading all of the responses, because I'm pretty sure they're all the same.
Not a smart idea.
Don't get caught up with all of this "building credit" crap. These days, banks will loan money to ANYBODY!!! So it's not about whether or not you can get a loan for something, but whether you get a good interest rate. And being so young, you won't have to worry about getting a good interest rate for a home or auto loan anytime soon since you don't have any money to begin with. And if you're at that point and can't get a good rate, then have someone close to you with good credit cosign with you.
In the end it's all about what assets you have. If you have a good bit of cash saved up and a good steady job, then you'll have good credit without having to build up anything. Heck, with just a job that pays 50k, credit card companies will automatically give you 10k credit.

^^ You'd be surprised. My brother had like 20-25k in the bank saved up from age 18 - 20 (20-25k average balance for those 2 years) and he applied for his first credit card when he was 20, no bank would give it to him even with his income/assets. I'm a firm believer in using credit cards but paying them off immediately. Credit History and Credit Score will play a big role in the interest rate you'll be looking at when buying a car/house/condo.
well i dont think he has that much money saved up or else he wouldnt be hurting for money. modding is fun, but definately not worth putting stuff on your credit card for (unless u know u will be paying it all off next month). seriously dude, ur so lucky to have a nice car like ours in college. save your money for payments and your tuition/books. paying 7% interest on your tuition loans is no fun!!! you are young! you have all your life ahead of you to mod the fvck outta cars =)

i would say to sit down and figure out how long it would take you to pay the debt off. I will max my credit card out once in a while on purpose and then pay it off within a month just so i can keep making my credit stronger. If you can charge however much the rims are $3400.00 and pay it off in 2 months then sure why not? Your only making your credit strong for the future, but it you are going to be making minimum payments until its paid off then i would say dont do it.
