How to remove a scuff

Noticed a scuff mark below the Infiniti emblem on the trunk (prob from where I took the badging off the car the other day). Tried waxing it out, no luck. Hand glaze, no luck. I've got some rubbing compound, but am a little leary to try it (dont want to screw up the clear coat). Any suggestions? I can prob live with it, but it'll drive me nuts knowing it's back there.

TIA

I'd be leery too of rubbing compound, polishing compound is less intense if you want to go that route, alternately I have used toothpaste as a mild abrasive.

You can also try NuFinish ( the junk in the ugly orange bottle ) before you try anything more severe like a compound.
If the mark isn't into the color coat I bet a body shop can buff it out in 15 seconds!

Good luck,

Not sure, had the car for 1.5 weeks. Wasn't there on pre-purch insp, but I could have done it getting the I-N-F-I-N-I-T-I off the back. I just used floss and a hair-dryer to get the letters off, so I'm not sure how it happened. The one thing I have noticed about the G35 that I miss from my Volvo C70 is an inside handle to close the trunk instead of having to grab the trunk itself (which could have caused this as well). I'll take your advice and swing it by a body shop ans see if they can knock it out.

You might be overkilling it by taking it to a shop, can you snap a few pictures for us to look at?? It'll save you the trouble of initially going to a shop.

You can try using some clay (clay bar). I've done it to my ride when I debadged the letters, then I used some type of polishing compound.
