What? 6k can buy you a couple of turbo setups and a couple of SC setups, which could equate to about 400 hp (crank) easily (depending on tuning and how far you want to go, this number could be easily exceeded)

I was quoted between 10 and 12K for the Greddy TT. Including guages and re-routing of the wastegate plumbing. As well as the uTech and a few other small things.

ouch.

Feed my wife and child or 400+ HP?

And power is nothing without control. Have you thought about your suspension and brake needs with that kinda HP on tap?

Damn someone is ripping you! You can get a new greddy TT plus install and tune for prob under 7 grand. And with the extra 5k you can get a used built long block and push around 550whp.

I'll take my 12 second G with all the fixings over a F body any day! No thanks. I think having a 12 second luxury car is part of the allure.

Search the forums and pick up a Vortech from someone. I am pretty sure you may find one for under 4k. You can run low to moderate boost after a good installation and tune and be all set.

Yes, and other cars. I used to be in the hype that I had to mod all my cars to make max power, but one day I sat down and thought about - you spend thousands upon thousands to make a decently fast car from a factory a little bit faster. Then factor in a few more thousand for maintenance and headaches that are going to arise.

Or you could leave the car relatively alone - i usually do headers, off-road pipes, and a few other things, not for power, but because I love to hear the exhaust roar - then put you money into building a true 9-10second car.

It doesn't have to be ugly - my fox body mustang idea is the cheap way - build a Factory Five MK3 or a Ultima GT-R if you ultimate power+handling+syling.

that sounds way off to me, but you don't even have an exhaust system on your car so they may have included that as well with whatever else they recommend. You can do it for much cheaper than 10 or 12k

It sound about right... Guages + Utec will cost you 2k+ Greddy is not totally complete so after you buy all the necessary stuff plus upgrade EMS to Utec 10K+ with tune is a good price.

You can get a new Vortech Kit New for less than 5K if you look hard enough plus 1000 for install. I you get a used Kit then 6K will get you Kit/Install/basicTune/Guages.

Do you have any mods already? That would be very helpful.. Do you wanna go FI or are you looking to stay NA? Honestly.. FI is the only way to get good power out of these cars. A turbo kit would be pushing it, and you would probably selling yourself short, having to pick and choose what you want. I would recommend getting a Vortech SC with a few other goodies to help tune her safely at a number you want.

Like others have said, you could get a very basic sc setup for about that, but I think you could make your car very nice with a full bolt on setup and spend the $ on other cool stuff.

My thinking - HKS exhaust + Headers + Z tube + K & N filter + plenum spacer = 3k (maybe a little more or less)

2 grand could get you a set of wheels with another grand going towards tires and suspension.

Dont get me wrong, sc setups are cool, but considering the fact that sc g35s are not particularly fast, you mise well make your car sound mean and give it a little performance, while getting a great look too. Just my 2 cents

Hmm... when did 350-400 rwhp on a 3600lb car become not "particularly" fast... I must be trippin

EDIT - $3k for 30rwhp over $5-6k for 100-130rwhp... I'm missing something
