G-COUPE BUILT IN USA FOR $4000 LESS.

This is for a fact. I use to sell Acura's from 1998 til 2001. 1998 TL's built in Japan sold for $32000 and the new 1999 redesigned way better TL's built in the good ol' US of A is priced at $27,000. Only if infiniti can do the same and save us the $4-5K but of course the down side would be probably more coupe on the road with the pricing making it posible for a new group of car buyers.

That would be great, however lets see if they can do the trick for the next gen! Could afford a second one by then.

We'd all love to see a cheaper (to purchase) ride, but we like the exclusivity of it right now tho too.

Do you really think that assembly in the USA vs Japan will make a $4000 difference?

There's much more to pricing than where a vehicle is assembled

Re: G-COUPE BUILT IN USA FOR $4000 LESS.

The main reason that they assemble some Japanese cars here in the US is because they are mainstream cars that sell a lot i.e. Altima, Accord, Camry, Avalon, etc.. So if they did sell enough G’s in the US then maybe Nissan would consider making a plant here to assemble G's here.

But for some reason most cars built in Japan seem to have better build quality then when they’re assembled them here in the US.

I totally agree with you. I always make it a point to check the VIN before I buy a car, I want mine assembled in Japan. I own a number of Japanese cars and never had any problems with them. But when I bought my Honda Odessy (2002) I didn't have any choice. None was assembled in Japan. They were mostly assembled in Canada but my Odessy was made in Alabama by Ford plant. I guess I wasn't too lucky because it turned out to be a lemon. I was offered a replacement (new) but I declined and ended up returning such lemon. I lost about 10K for the usage fee. Never again will I buy a car made in USA. (Sorry, but I work hard for my $$$)

Re: G-COUPE BUILT IN USA FOR $4000 LESS.

Well, i don't think it will make a difference, as long as the demand is high, they will keep the price up no matter where they build it.

Re: G-COUPE BUILT IN USA FOR $4000 LESS.

I agree with Ivorypearl...for some reason, whether it be materials or craftsmanship, there is something about a car built in Japan vs in the U.S. I'm not trying to denigrate the U.S. assemblers, but Japan assemblers got it going on....come on, that's why most of us bought this car: Quality...and performance and style to boot.

Re: G-COUPE BUILT IN USA FOR $4000 LESS.

Yes, that is so so true, better built quality from Japan is for a fact. Would I be willing to take a chance with built in USA for $4,000 less ? That would be a interesting decision. I, too work hard for my Money.

Re: G-COUPE BUILT IN USA FOR $4000 LESS.

I wonder if Union have something to do with the quality build in the US. I hear on NPR how some union worker are so bad that they don't care because the union protect them. The only way they can get fire is doing something really stupid, i.e. stealing, sexual harrassment, etc.

just a thought.

From what I hear 04 Maxima which is in its first year being built in America has build and relability issues.

Re: G-COUPE BUILT IN USA FOR $4000 LESS.

i'm not 100% sure on this but isn't it built in japan cars get higher values?? e.i prelude was built in Japan and even it got discontinued still very strong resale values... and i rather pay extra 4k for built in japan car... sorry but i'm done with american cars...
p.s. i saw new law just passed that if a car was built in US or Canada for 51% or more they considered that automobile as american car... so if you buy an accord you bought the american car with japanese Honda brand name... make sense to anybody??
