well if you are going to take out the back seats,, take out the passenger seat as well. If you need to give someone a ride.. Have them sit on a plastic bucket.. It weights alot less than the seat... Also, pull the glove box, that will give us another pound..
IC Paul
What we should do is start a list of things to take out that will not effect the person driving the car.. I will start the list.. Please add one thing and do not duplicate.. In about a day this guy will have a great list......

Dont forget to remove the headlights, nightdriving isn't worth it if it requires the extra 10lbs assembly's. lol

Most people on this forum dont really like the idea of stripping the car because it defeats the point of the luxurious part of the G. I bet people would not complain as much if they did it to their STi, why? because it is a econ box, not a luxurious coupe.
IMO, I dont give a damn what you do to your car, i mean its your car. But we just like to give ur opinion on what we think about it. And most of us think it is stupid to strip the G.
have a good one!

Personally, I think it's beneficial to find where you can shed some pounds from the G. For the occasional track day or autox, excess weight is never a good thing.
Adding power, suspension parts, etc. is good but removing weight helps in every single performance aspect - acceleration, handling and braking. Plus it's free.

I would guess that most of these smart @S$ comments come from people who don't autocross/track their car. That was my intent when I purchased this car. But it also had to be my daily driver so I couldn't just get the Z for lack of passenger room and cargo space.
I took the plastic covers off of the assembly that bolts down the seats.
Some say that could be going to far!Registered User

Additionally I am lookin for some 17s or 18s racing rims to put DOT legal street
racing tires on my car (for autocross of course). I'd prefer a dull black color if anyone knows of any PM me and I'll take a look at them.
Unless you plan on dropping 50lbs on your diet, you won't even notice the differenceOriginally Posted by GWord256
Finally someone intelegent making a post. I'm 6'0" 185lbs and I am actually considering going on a diet (maybe even excercise) just to get some extra performance out of my G.Additionally I am lookin for some 17s or 18s racing rims to put DOT legal street

At 112" wheelbase, the G35 coupe still has a 52/48 weight ratio even with the FM platform. Even the all aluminum engine block, hood, doors and trunk doesn't help much. 3500lbs weight......... Where did all the weight come from? Sound damping material? The car isn't even that damn quiet.
It really amazes me how BMW consistently make lighter cars with better weight distribution and structural rigidity. (consider the BMW uses a I-6 large steel block, it's pretty impressive)

Other members are very closed minded because when they read my original post to this thread, they think I want to strip everything out. They didn't read it carefully which is why they made their very inappropiate comments.
As mentioned, I do not want to strip out any of my car's amnieties. I enjoy the climate control system, audio system, and comfortable leather seats. I will not replace the stock driver and passenger seats for aftermarket ones. My stock seats fit me like a tea.
However, as every fellow member is well aware of, our Gs are very heavy. Certain areas can benefit for weight reduction. For example, an excellant replacement for the plastic interior parts would be carbon fiber but cost is a factor. I could replace my wheels with even lighter weight wheels but why? The stock wheels are light already. I will not buy another wheel set which may be a few pounds lighter than the stock ones. In my opinion, that's a waste of money.
Additionally, as stated before, I replaced the stock floor mats with aftermarket ones because they are lighter weight and look much better.
I've lightened my car by at least 120lbs which is good enough. Now I'll research how to effectively distribute the weight of my car.
After reading my response posts to the members with the negative comments, I feel that I owe an apology to them.
They were just kidding around and I responded irrationaly.
I apologize.

I mentioned that I DO NOT want to remove any of my car's luxurious amnieties. It's one of the reasons I bought a G.
By the way, most fellow G members think its a good idea to remove some weight.

I don't know how this is getting out of control. I simply stated how I reduced weight in my car and I get attacked.
