strip it. When I gutted my trunk to do my stereo I noiced that the back end of the car went up noticeably. I would guess the spare, jack, trunk lining, rear seats are are 150-200 pounds. The rear seat alone must be close to a hundred pounds. the seat back is very heavy.

I wanted to buy the lightest weight coupe which is the base model with no options. I read that the premium package(which includes sunroof) adds around 50-80lbs to a base model.
So knowing that and I think paying $2500 for premium package is not worth it, I decided to buy a base '06 model this past summer.

Soon after I bought it, I removed carpet mats, spare tire and jack, and trunk mat. I also drive on a 1/4 tank of gas most of the time.
As a result, I definately feel a noticable weight difference from my last G which was a fully loaded '05 coupe.

According to the G website, a 6mt coupe weighs 3524lbs. I think it now weighs(with a 1/4 tank of gas) around 3400lbs.

If I remove the rear seat, I'll definately remove a decent amount of weight. Has anyone weighed the rear seat? If so, how much does it weight?

Dude, what's wrong with you? What's your obsession with the weight of the car? Are you taking this baby to the drag strip or racetrack? I don't see why you would do this if the G35 is your daily driver.
Who wants to drive a sports car without a sunroof, if your only reason for not getting them is to SAVE WEIGHT? Driving around with 1/4 tank of gas to save weight? You're being ridiculous. Do you have OCD?

top part weighs 30 and the bottom weighs 15

eemon: did you not look inside my car?? mine is completely gutted from the front seats backward?

yes id say you can get the weight down its not that hard. i did it cause i was tracking a lot and stuff, but now that the body kit is on im goin to take it prolly one time back to the track to see what my 100 shot does, then put everything back in the car.

there is a lot of weight you can shave, you just have to know where to look.

replace metal brakets with zip ties, remove all excess bolts, brakets, seat belts, plastic panels, speakers, visors, passenger seat, glove box, carpet, then move on the engine and its excess parts

unsprung weight though is the best, though to loose.
2pc rotors, ti springs, light and smaller diameter wheels, light tires (hard to find though)

Uh, I completely understand removing the metal pieces, but the mats? All together they can't weigh more than 20lbs.

The only time I remove my mats is when I go on the roadcourse because they are flammable and they can bunch up underneath your pedals at the wrong time coming in or out of a corner.

Seriously, the 20lbs for the mats to make the car look crappy ain't worth it.

As for the 1/4 of gas, I used to do that when racing in my C5 Vette, but nowadays would rather be able to hoof it if some terrorist dolt does something stupid and everyone hits the interstate at once. That and those little thing we folk in New Orleans call hurricanes.

+1 ...LMAO riding with 1/4 tank in a G!?!? u must have to refill everyday if not twice a day, cuz G's gas mileage is atrocious!!
anyone that obsessed with weight shouldve looked into buying a Lotus Elise which is $39k about the same as a fully loaded G, or just bought a base 350Z which is i think about 400lb lighter than the 06 coupe

& the other guys statement is true rear seats weigh no more than 40-45lbs altogether
FYI ...floor carpet, weighs a ton!!!! I would estimate at least 60lbs add that plus stock floor mats an easy 70-80lbs
