Driver side mirror is no more
So last night around 10-11pm I was merging onto the freeway, both the right and middle lanes were closed due to construction, and there were lots of cars coming in the open lane. I was concetrating on merging, and did not notice that I had veered a little too far to the left. There was a diamond shaped construction zone sign right at the end of the merging lane on the left side.
As I was about to pass it and at this point I was not looking forward (to the left trying to merge) my friend yelled my name and I looked up and jerked to the right but was too late.
The sign nailed my driver mirror and totally just took it off, and piece of plastic hit my face.
This was probably one of the worst days in my life as some **** earlier in the day happened, and this just made it a ****ty end to a ****ty day.

^^Yeah, there is damage on the door as the pic shows a bunch of white marks. Those are straight down to the metal.
My friend that yelled at me probably saved me the accident being 10x worse as I was able to jerk to the right enough to make it completely miss the rest of the body, it probably would've hit a lot more if I didn't jerk to the right when she yelled cuz she saw the sign.

If you think the sign is dangerous, you should go back and take pics of it and register a complaint. Eventually you may get compensated.
Unless you were so dang close that you were actually scraping the wall or barrier that I imagine this sign was mounted on, there's no reason a construction sign should have whacked your car. NO REASON. No sign should not be protruding out into traffic.
In fact, many construction signs here in New England have the pointy ends clipped off, no doubt because of incidents like yours.

I was thinking about doing that, and I just might.
Later that night I went to see exactly what happened, and saw my mirror in the middle of the freeway, I lol'd.
The sign is right at the end of the merging lane on the left, it is just standing there by itself - not mounted onto any barrier or anything.
