Oil dark, dark brown, and smell bad after only 1500 miles?

I got my free 1st oil change at South Coast Infiniti. Today, I decided to clean my detail my engine bay and I notice a bolt missing from the platic intake (attached to the grille). Anyways, that can be easily fixed.

Now, for the oil, I crack open the dip stick and what do i notice? a darkish brown
and smelly azz oil? wtf? only 1500miles on it and it has the smell of oil that hasn't been changed for about 7k miles.

This is pretty bad, seeing this is the same oil that was in it from day 1. All the metallic crap thats in there during the "break-in" process is all still there.

Shouldnt the oil still be a little clear or transparent at about 1500 miles?

I know my integra oil is still clear after 2k miles on it.

this is extremely dirty, for 1500 miles. if i wipe the dip stick with a rag, you can see the dark brown oil on the rag..

imma call infiniti after you peeps chime in.

My G's oil gets dirty pretty quick too.

I noticed the oil was like 5x dirtier though when I put on a K&N filter. They suck, and I've since switched to an Amsoil EA Nanofiber filter and found my oil is cleaner.

Do you have a K&N filter or some other aftermarket intake?

color doesn't immediately mean the oil is bad. Perform a used oil analysis to determine the oil's true condition.

......or the mechanic forgot to change your oil, it could happend. Seem like you just got the car recently????. If so, Yes, your oil shouldn't be that much dirty for a new engine. Either way, You should go back to that dealer and tell them what you saw, the missing bolt and everything!! If you are good with the talk, they would give you another free oil change and this time, wont hurt to check your oil stick right at the dealer parking lot, to see the color of the oil now..then 1500 miles later, check again to see what's difference. I would bring back the dealer if that happend on me!!
good luck,
pd

Sounds like they didn't change the oil or did, but not the oil filter maybe.
I'd take it back, but it might be hard to prove they didn't after 1500mi on the oil. Might have to eat this one and in the future, check soon after they do oil/filter service.
But b/c it smells old, they might admit and change it.
G/L

FYI:
My oil for the first 3 services stayed a light/medium amber color up to the 3750mi mark each time.
Now I'm approaching my fourth service (15K) mark and the oil has become much darker than previous intervals. It never did nor does now, smell like funky old oil.

I haven't cleaned my JWT air filter for awhile. That's interesting to read about type of air filter/oil getting dirtier sooner.
Sounds like I should clean and re-oil mine or change to a better filter system.
Thanks for that insight, was wondering why oil was getting darker sooner.

your oil will get dark very quickly..........................within a few miles! It won't be black, but a dark brown color.

It is nothing to worry about......also, you also smell gas in the oil..that's normal too.

Check your oil filter. You may have a bad filter or right along with everyone elsemaybe they didn't change your oil!

yeah, i dont think they changed my oil, no biggy, i'll just let them change to it synthetic later this week.

i remember checking my oil every week when i 1st got the car, at 2500 miles, my oils wasn't even as dark as it is now...

also smells like old oil. so pretty sure they didnt do a free oil change. at least they have it on record, so if my car starts to burn oil, new engine for me.
