2004 bought it new in Nov 04. After 28000 miles on it, I can honestly say that the car is absolutely reliable. Only brought the car in once for service outside of the regular scheduled maintenance. That service was done in Dec 05 and the dealer resurfaced the rotors and replaced the brake pads. There was no charge for that.

Also, one minor replacement of the strips that go under the doors. That was done a few weeks ago while my car was at the dealer for scheduled maintenance. They were replaced under warranty.

One complaint I have is about the road noise. Even my beater 89 camry has less road noise. But that can be due to my tires (19" Toyo T1R)

My site has a section where people can post repair histories. Just a few for the G35 so far, though:

Reviving this post 2-1/2 years later and I'm wondering how the "typical" problems are now. Several people posted very few problems, I"m wondering if this is still the case now that your Gs are older. I'm considering purchasing an extended elite warranty but not sure that nearly $2,000 will be worth it. My other car hasn't gone through $2000 worth of repair in 10 years, and I'm not sure my G will either.

You can check the repair histories and reliability stats at the link above your post. Aside from a few engine replacements for excessive oil consumption, these cars have been very reliable so far.

With an extended warranty, your odds of the warranty paying off are, at best, one in three. They've got to cover their administrative costs and turn a profit.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the window motors.
