I'd say it's safe to drive. It depends on how you've been driving during this interval and how many miles you have. if you have relatively low miles and you drive like a normal person, i'd say you're ok. i had a blackstone oil analysis done at 15k and they said i could go for 5k miles on my oil. I'm goin to send the 5k mi oil and see what they say. If you really beat on your car, I would try gettin the oil changed as soon as you can. you have an 06 wtih >10k miles and less than 25k miles i'm assuming.

i don't know about sludge, but we are prone to oil consumption. since you drive pretty hard, you prolly don't have that much build up since you burn it off.

I have a cousin that used to have a 04 G35 sedan that did not give a **** about the car (or any car that he owns), he went about 15k with regular oil.
LOL, the car had 0 problems. He recently traded it in for IS350.

because infiniti uses regular non-synthetic oil.

okay.... how often do you change your oil if you guys are using synthetic?

5000? 3500? i ask this because my dad keeps getting mad at me cause he says synthetic oil is made to last for a while before change...

I did my first at 3K. On my second, I switched to full synthetic @ 7,500miles. I am now changing my oil every 7.5K miles

It's not the oil that breaks down, it is the filter that looses its filtering capacity.

Thus, you should still change around 3000.

If you ever see the filters on BMWs that don't require a change for like 7500 miles or more, they are huge!
