i think my gas gauge may be broken
ok well for the past few weeks when ever i fill up my car. i only seem to put in about 12 or maybe 13 gallons. my car is on E and it still doesnt seem to read full after i fill up. like just right now i have only driven 50 mile and it reas 3/4 full. thanks ****ting considering before it would at least hit 75 to 80 before. my question is if my car is full and i top it off to the max y doesnt my gas gauge go all the way to full. last nite it went to 3/4 for awhile and then later when up but not all the way. thanks guys.
YEP. Mine did that exact thing. I have an 04. I had it replaced last year under warranty, and it was fine for a while. It started acting up again, and just got the car back from the dealer as they had to fix it again (under warranty).
I asked the lady working, i'm like "So is this going to happen every year? what gives?" She shrugged her shoulders, "its just one of those things."
HA! one of those things? what in the world. You'd think they could get it right by now...
but yeah, take it back to the dealer. They'll fix it for you...temporarily if your as lucky as me.

I'm thinking I might have to do that myself soon. I will be driving along, and then it will jump down some, and then go back up. So not to sure what to think. I know the last time I filled it,it went all the way up,and was fine, now it just seems to jump. The lowest was it went down to right above a qtr tank, and then jumped back up to half a tank after about 5min of driving.
I think there are two TSB for this. One is the Gas line and another is for the sensor. You may have to tell them to replace both?

Same thing here. Very common. Never went past 3/4. I never knew if that meant when it said it was empty that it still actually was 1/4 full. Luckily never got burned because I was afraid to push it.
was this only a problem on 03-04, i have an 05 and it does the same thing. ( i had that axle click too which the dealership told me only happens on earlier G's) my gas light came on 2 nights ago, and i toped it off, it only took 12.5 gallons!! No where near a full tank
a few weeks ago i tried filling it up, about half way it stopped. I know i was bone dry in the tank, and then i kept filling it, and it clicked off, took a little clicked off...
let me know, this is the first i've heard of other ppl having trouble with it, i'll have to do some more searching

There a problem with a valve in the neck of the filler tube......sometimes the back pressure from the pump causes the valve to close off way before the tank is actually full..
I never had mine in for repair, because for the most part my car will fill completely. I don't think my fuel gauge has ever really gone way over the full line...its annoying to say the least

I am having the same problem. One day the light will be on, and it will take 14 gaillons. The next it will be on a 1/4 of tank and take 17. I took my car to the dealership and they are going to replace the gauge panel.
Warranty item.......
If you still have miles/time left on your warranty take it back to the stearership! This could be a difficult DIY item.....tank....sending unit etc.
