7500 mile service questions
I went to the dealership this past weekend, and I realized that I am due for the 7500 mile service (actually have 8k miles now), so I put in an appointment for this Friday. However, I realized that this S_hit cost $162! Is this price right or am I getting raped here?
Plus, I do not want Infiniti to do an oil change because I put synthetic in (Mobile 1), so if I ask them not to do that, should they lower the price? Anyone else done this already? Please advise.... Thanks

Re: 7500 mile service questions
If you drive a coupe and don't want an oil change you're paying $162 for nothing. The 7500 service is basically an oil change and check some fluids. You can easily do this yourself and put the $162 into some splash guards, pedals, hoses, etc.

Re: 7500 mile service questions
The 7500 Mi service is itemized... Ask them not to change the oil and they will deduct the cost of the oil change from the bill. I paid around 160 for mine as well. If you have the stock 18" remind them to use the adpater when balancing/aligning the tires... if they dont you will get some pretty nasty scratches on your front 2 wheels which will just become a hassle.

Re: 7500 mile service questions
Hi scobic,
Yes, I do have the stock 18" rims (6MT).... What do you mean adaptor for the balance and rotation? What does this do and how do they use it? I don't understand how the rims would get scratched and if they do get scratched, shouldn't the dealer replace them for free?
Cool, at least I have a reference point now for the "no oil change" part of it. I want them to do a rotation and balance (main thing) and I also want them to fix the fact that my car pulls to the right. I have brought this thing in several times to get that fixed and it just hasn't been fixed yet. I know that there is a TSB for it, so why can't they just fix it...
So I am paying $120 for a rotation and balance. Stupid.

Re: 7500 mile service questions
When balance the wheels for the alignment they take the wheel of the car and crank it down into a machine real tight so that it can spin safely. When the machine clamps down on our painted 18s it digs into the paint in a circular pattern around the center of the wheel... this happened to me. here is a link to the post I wrote about it:
https://g35driver.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=14&Number=132936&page=&vie w=&sb=&vc=1
IF they use the adapter like they are supposed to for these wheels than the clamped piece is dampened against the rim preventing it from scratches. When I got my car home and up close to my wheels washing them I called the dealer and told them of the problem... I drove the car by for them to have a look in person and they told me what it was from and offered either free service for the replacement amount of to have the wheels refinished for me at their cost. I chose to have the wheels refinished... they came back brandy new.
as for spending 120 for the balance and "rotation" (no rotation on the coupe due to direction tires with the staggered pattern) your right its kind of high priced... i look at it this way... I have all my service work done at my dealer and I dont haggle the price... when it comes time for asking a favor of them or ordering stuff for me they tend to ask no questions and let a lot of stuff go by. The guys at the dealer near me are good to me since I give them my business... I like to try and keep them on my goodside by keeping me on their goodside...

Re: 7500 mile service questions
holy cow,$162 for 7500 mile service? that's being raped in the raw daylight.i have a brochure from infiniti right in front of me here.for 7500 mile service, this is what they will do: (1)oil & filter change (2) check fluid levels (3) multi-point inspection (4) inspect exhaust system (5) inspect steering gear linkage (6) inspect axle & suspension (7) rotate tires (8) inspect brake (9) inspect battery.all that for total price of $99.95 now, there is a little star note,it said: vehicles requiring wheel calibration slightly higher...so your might need calibration and don't forget they add tax/fee to the bill.the work order paper should spell out everything... hope that's help

Re: 7500 mile service questions
i told them not to balance my wheels at my 7500 mile serv. so, basically just oil change and some stupid inspections. they did deduct the wheel balancing fee from the service i can't remember how much, but pretty significant.

Re: 7500 mile service questions
They refinished them first, but I wasn't happy with the results. The color was a match, but the sheen and texture was a noticeable difference from the factory finish on the rest of the wheel.
They ordered new ones, and they came in about four weeks later. They outsourced the mounting of the tires to a tire shop that knew how to handle the 18" wheels. The dealer was okay about the whole thing. They wanted to make sure that I was completely satisfied regardless of the cost. They did not charge me for the service either.
