anyone know how to find a cars insur info if i only have their vin number and address???? someone hit me, and i got his info but i dont have his insurece info. do u know any link to i can get to this info? or do i have to go to a dmv to find out ?

report to the police and your insurance co. they'll do it for you...

 

I had the same problem with an accident a few years ago. The person that hit me gave me all the correct information except that the insurance was fake. I had the address, SS#, licence plate number, and phone number of the other guy. When i called the cops to report the fake insurance they said that they couldn't help because I didnt call them at the scene of the accident. They also said that they couldn't find out what insurance covered the license plate I reported. Also, the insurance company didn't want to help cuz there was no police report made. So I was stuck with a $500 deductible! I learned the hard way to NEVER drive away from an accident without a police report. Good luck with your situation...I hope it works out better than mine did. Hmmm, I dont know where you live but here in NY, I think they allow you something like 36 to 48hrs to file a police report after an accident. As for the info you have, all ya need is a plate number, vehicle make and model info, get a police report and call your insurance company. They'll find the rest. If you got his VIN number and or his drivers license number that will help too, but sometimes police find it hard to place a driver at the scene if you only have the VIN number, so you may run into some problems there. This is where witnesses come in handy. Good luck!
