I have 50k miles on my G... I just got back from the dealer and they said the motor is broken... trying to charge me 300+ for the motor itself and + labor it comes out to 550 dollars.... I told them I would think about it, seems a bit high, any input? Anyone ever heard of someone replacing their own motor?

It's probably the Anti pinch feature. When the window is going up and it feels resistance passed a certain amount, it'll stop and then go down 4 to 6 inches. When you "roll" (I assume you don't have the roll up type ), if you hold it up just a little bit does it do the same thing? I don't mean you give it a flick and let go, the window goes up automatically. I mean if you let go of the switch the window stops in that position. If you try to close the window like that, does it still do it?? I'm having a bit of trouble with my drivers side window and when talking with my dealer he told me that they are having a lot of trouble with switches on the doors. So does it only happen with one side or both (switches I mean)? If one side only, it's probably the switch. If not, it's the anti pinch probably. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

really the only hard part on most cars when changing out the motor or regulator is doing so with out damaging the window tint...personally i have never had window issues with mine so i couldn't speak from personal experience with a g, however i work at a body shop and am buried neck deep in doors of cars everyday and 90% of the time, it is not that big of a deal! g/l

I haven't had mine break yet(Knock on wood!), but I dread that it will someday and would love to have some heads up info on what's involved in fixing it myself.. not that I'd be afraid to attempt it without such documentation, but it would still be comforting to have it as a guide.
