Driver side battery cover, Help !

How to install this cover ?? I tried to install mine, but it doesn't fit really well. Does it require any cutting ??

Yeah you have to cut about 1/4 inch off, where the old rubber seal was...

I don't remember the link, but on freshalloy someone wrote up how they installed it!

Peace

Re: Driver side battery cover, Help !

I just ordered one from japanparts.com

they are great service, and very helpful and friendly!
if you call them up it is the easiest way to order...
They assemble the kit themselves from parts from nissan, and a couple little pieces are on backorder with nissan so they said it would take a couple weeks to get it out... cool with me though.

You have to modify the engine bay though because the heat shield on the driver's side is built up higher... for the rubber to meet the hood lid... not meant to have cover there. so you have to take off the rubber lining, and cut about 1/4 in of the metal off... then they give you all new parts for the area including extra stuff just to be sure it all goes ok!

shipping to miami was like $20 and the kit is like $40 they charged my card for 60 dollars and change.

I can't wait for the kit to come in, it makes it look so much nicer in the hood compartment!

Peace
-Eric

I didn't realize that you had to cut metal on the car - eeyow!

My battery cover should arrive today. Do you have pics of what has to be cut or is it obvious? I really don't have any metal cutting tools - what did you use to perform the necessary cut(s)?

Thanks!

i think the guy on that thread used a grinder.

This is sort of why i wacked the idea of doing this mod. I'm just not prepared to start grinding down a partition in the engine compartment.

Re: Driver side battery cover, Help !

I'll take a pic later of the part to grind down. I haven't done it yet, because i am still waiting for the kit. The partition is really flimsy metal i am guessing that one could score it off and clean the edges a little, or take a dremel cutting tool to it or something along these lines....

how this helps, will post pic later...

Re: Driver side battery cover, Help !

Chris,

My parts came in yesterday -Nissan engine cover, sports horn, Skyline trunk mat, and driver side battery cover. I'll let you know if I can find a way to install the battery cover without cutting the partition. Later.

Re: Driver side battery cover, Help !

I just install mine today, actually we don’t need to cut the heat shield. I use a pliers to bend the heat shield, I will try to post some pics.
