Re: Accident.. G is down for the count..

yeah.. the damage is pretty bad cosmetically.. the car still runs tho.. after the car stopped spinning, i tried to start it up to move it out of the carpool lane but it wudnt start.. but when the CHP came to move it, he tried it again and it was fine..

thanks for all your kind words and thoughts.. yeah.. the car is definitely one that you can feel safe in.. i hit the middle divider easily goin around 60.. to walk away right away and not be left with anything much than a bruised left hand and forearm and a sore neck is definitely a lot better than what can be expected..

many thoughts have come to mind as of a replacement for my coupe.. an rx-8 has crossed my mind (yeh right lol).. no offense to anyone who has one, but that's not a car i'm goin to even consider.. i've decided i'll either get a black or carribean blue coupe or a 350z.. i'm realli thinking about gettin a 6MT, cause as my buddy would say, i'm meant to drive a stick.. either way, i'll still have a G or it's very close cousin..

thanks again, and drive safe..

David

I remember when I rear ended someone in my Accord, the damage was pretty bad, $8000. Your car's front end reminds me of that Accord.

Anyway, the car can be replaced. Human body parts can't. Glad you're ok.

Re: Accident.. G is down for the count..

dang, you had almost exact same experience as I did a couple years ago...

I was driving on hwy 680 (bay area too), and this saturn was in front of me... and suddenly a civic pulled up and tried to cut in lane when he was totally parallel to that saturn... The saturn noticed it and tried to avoid it, ended up hitting the central divider...

I was behind it witnessing the whole scene, couldn't really do anything about it but saw that god damn saturn losing control like crazyyyyyyyyyyyy... and I had to break like a b*tch and crossed lanes from 1st to 3rd, getting hit by this GM on my rear side after that emergency break.

i mean WHAT IS WRONG WITH CIVIC IN BAYAREA??? If you can't drive, don't fawking bother!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we saw the same civic? I think it was gold color or greren... forgot... I was too shock that my memory was pretty much erased...

NEXT TIME, when some car, especially a civic does that to me, I would be like "motherf*cker, I am just gonna do whatever the movie Bad Boy II does, instead of avoiding it, I am gonna hit him back and lose his control haha

Re: Accident.. G is down for the count..

i'm gettin the repair quote from the auto body shop today.. according to them, damages must total around $24K in order for the car to be considered a total loss.. if not, they'll repair it.. i gave them permission to disassemble the car today, so they're goin to check for internal problems.. i was told that the electrical system is the bread and butter.. as in if a lot of the electrical is f-ed up, then it wud easily make it a total loss..

yeah, i definitely have to say thanks to infiniti for making the car so safe.. both accidents that i have been in i've been able to walk away pretty much clean.. the accident about 10 months ago was completely different tho.. that incident was on local roads and goin about 15-20 mph in a head on.. this one was goin 60+ slamming head on into the median.. either way, i'm glad god is watchin over me..

in regards to the civic.. f- them.. seriously.. i don't tink they stopped because they never even saw me.. either way, i hate all purple civics now..

last thing i wanted to mention is that a random motorist did stop by and stayed with me until the CHP came.. i never realli got to thank him for making sure i was okay.. either way, if you do see some type of incident, try to stop and jus see if everyone's okai.. it makes a world of difference as opposed to being alone while it happens..

and in regards to the value of the car.. i've been told by state farm that if it is considered a total loss, i will receive $34K from them.. and i alreadi did some trade-in quotes from local dealers, and they offered around $32K.. either way, imma get a new car somehow.. jus depends on how long this all takes.. i am glad that state farm is progressing along rather efficiently with my claim..

Re: Accident.. G is down for the count..

Hey man, I m madd sorry to see this sh*t happen to you. I've been in the whole accident thing myself and it aint easy man. I lost my car for like 3 weeks. Its not the work that was the problem it was the parts which some were on national backorder or whatever. Next although that damage may look horrendous chances are they are only cosmetic. I say this because the hood is made to crumple, the raditor and raditor support are obviously gonna be injured in a front end collision and the fenders are bolt on and bolt off. From what it looks like you have no chasis damage, which will be determined when they start taking it apart. Also they will do their best not to total this car. The parts is whats gonna cost the money but they will indeed pay up to 24k to fix the car. To be honest from looking at the pic in comparison to my accident, it looks like it might be a littler more than 24k although I could be wrong. Also maybe the bodyshop would love to do a job like this so they will probably bill right under the 24k limit. Adjusters and bodyshops..its not exactly a completely honest business.Anyway it sucks that you got into the accident totally sorry to hear about it. Been through it myself and it was not fun at all. It was horrible and I still cant get it out my mind.(3 months later). Its made me a much more cautious driver although sometimes I still wild out. Also man the G's safety is ridiculous. That car is so safe for passengers its not even funny. It just goes to show how worth it is for its money. That car is worth every penny of its price. Anyhow its good that your alright man. Be safe and keep us updated. -Vin

I do agree with everyone, thank God your alive and well. I do feel your pain. I was in a car accident too. Everything is all cosmetic. It will take sometime, but everything will be fine...hang in there ;-)
