g35 braking/front wheels humming noise?
I've test driven 2 used g35 coupes, 1 from 04 and 1 from 05, i noticed that when i brake or when i go slow, the front two wheels are making like loud humming noise, even my beater doesnt make any noise when braking. I'm just wondering if its normal for g35s? I'm considering to buy g35 but im having second thought cuz of the noise...
yo i got the same problem , when u brake you hear the roters and also if you just roll on neutral you hear the wheels, i heard somewhere that its the tires the oem tires are realy bad , so i'm gettin 20" rims and some new tires and then i'll see
I was worried in the same way when I first started shopping.
It's common "problem" with the G. I used quotes because it's not a problem per se, but a side effect of a design decision.
I'm not sure if it's with all coupes or just 6MTs. It's commonly called "tire feathering" or "tire roar." There are plenty of threads on it. It's due to a negative camber settings on the front tires, which causes the inner threads to wear out sooner. That causes the roar at low speeds. The idea behind it was to give improved handling on corners.
I have not heard a success story yet, but I have heard that a frontend alignment will fix this. What sucks is that the sentence is usually followed by: "if it doesn't you can buy a aftermarket camber kit."
I plan on getting an alignment done just before getting new tires. We'll see...
