Just like title says. If not, can someone who has done it give me detailed instructions? The shop i went to told me to try it on my own, and if I didnt like the results to go back and they would do it.

let them do it because if you screw up it will cost more to fix it...but if you want to do it its not hard just take your time.
if you want to sand off the chrome you can but you dont have to. clean it with soap and water first and dry it well. then take rubbing alcohol to it and wipe down all of it 2-3 times to make sure there is nothing left. then spray it evenly with primer 2-3 coats with 30 mins between each coat to let it dry. after you prime it you can lightly sand it evenly if you need to. then spray 3-4 coats of either flat black or shiny black paint with 10 mins between each coat to let dry. if you can rig up a hanging station with coat hangers it would work best but you can prop it up from the back side via the clips as well. after the paint cures spray a few coats of clear and you are done. if you take your time and do it right it will look good but rock chips will show...you might just want to skip all this and get it powdercoated black. its about 100 bucks to have it done

I tried to send it to caskyline. Unfortunately, he is not doing this project no more because it takes too much time. I wanted to eliminate the emblem and paint it, but unfortunately he isnt doing it.

Which paint should I use and clear?

I wouldn't use any clear because its going to inevitably get chipped, and if you don't clear it, then respraying is much easier.

^ if you clear it with UV protected clear..and clear it some more..then clear it some more...it won't get chipped as easily and you can always buff out the chip if the clear is thick enough

True if you have a gun and compressor, I don't think you are going to be able to get the coat thick enough with a rattle can though, heck even my bumper has taken its fair share of chips all the way down to the plastic

if i do this can i always take the paint off to leave the chrome untouched? Reason I ask is because my car is a lease.

no. you'd have to sand the "chrome" off before painting.

There is a clearcoat over the "chrome" which you just have to sand lightly, you don't have to sand down to the metal.

i took mine to a body shop.. let them handle it.. i have 2 infiniti emblems one in blk n one chrome..

maybe find another shop..ask a local detail shop where to go
