Window rolls back down

I have a problem with my car. When I roll the driver side window up with the auto roll up where you just flick it once and it goes up on its own. It gets all the way shut the open up again about a quarter of the way down. I am not sure why it is doing this. Anyone have any ideas?

I have this same problem with my passenger window. From the info I've looked up, the best way to fix this is to take it to the dealer under warranty to have the motor replaced.

Oh, and to keep it up, just don't use the auto-up; just push it up slowly

Yea its not a huge deal cause I can just use the manual up but I was just wondering. There are other things I need fixed from the dealer though so I will probably have them fix it all at once.

my g was having the same problem on the rear passenger window. i took it to a friend of mine who works at the nissan dealer where i got it fixed. he was telling me that this problem happens alot on the nissan altima's and maxima's. so it's the window motor that goes bad.

I don't think its the window motor going bad, I think it is the whole moving regulator being mis-aligned, so the window thinks it has to activate its safety feature. Our windows have the feature that when the Auto-up is used, and when resistance is felt, it immediatley stops, then rolls back down a 1/4 of an inch, only if its not at its fullest upward position. I would bet that the dealer is probably not replacing the motors, they are probably re-aligning the regulator itself. Loose regulators are a frequent issue (and a bad one). I have had my regulator replaced (due to grease marks + window rattle), the window did not rattle for exactly 2 weeks after it was fixed, after that, it was back to rattling again.

The tension regulator is closing the window too tightly....Needs adjusting.

I disagree, its a problem with the where it thinks the end is. This can be fixed by yourself (short term). You can try to reset the limit switch yourself if you want. It's all the dealer will try at first.

I've had this done 4 times, and eventually they give me a new regulator. Sucks.
