yes carbon fiber hoods save weight but the G35 hood is already light weight because its aluminum, the most weight you would save is max 5lbs. on hondas/acuras it saves a good amount of weight. carbon fiber on black cars clashes because its both black, overall i think the hood looks alright. its your car do whatever you want with it =p

I love how those of us that don't like it are "haters." I guess its the most intelligible comment these "daddy bought me a G" kids can come up with. If he had frikkin LOUVRES on his G, would we still be "haters" for criticizing it?

Get a clue.

Re: carbon fiber hood installed *pic* UPDATED

i agree why are u guys hating and talkin all this trash?? i dont' get it, u gusy have to know that ur "precious luxrious g35" is NOT THAT LUXRIOUS and who says having a CF hood on is "rice" or "honda civic like"?!?!?! a lot of M3s, 350z, s2k have them on bcuz it looks good (to people who likes it) and it saves weigh (like some of the members said) and lets not forget that those 3 cars i've listed either have the price HIGHER or the same as ur G.

so dont' be hating please. i personally thinks it looks totally awesome and since G35 Coupe can be consider as a sport car, i think it makes it look realli nice.

and to u guys whos using the word "rice" out there, please learn the word "rice" b4 u use it. "RIce" means all show and no go, and if u realli do own a G35, i'm sure u kno that ur precious car is indeed NOT all show and no go. THANK YOU

Re: carbon fiber hood installed *pic* UPDATED

the cf hood is rice. stop kidding yourself, and stop watching fast and the furious.

it might save a few lbs, but it looks terrible. i seriously don't need you to tell me what RICE is. it's everywhere, it's obvious, and the cf hood is rice as far as i'm concerned. but who am i? yeah, don't pull that lol.

s2k, yeah, cuz they're wack. 350z....haven't seen many with cf hoods. M3s..(and i know quite a few people who own one) no cf hoods. who knows...guess it depends on where you live. it's not a great mod, not especially when our hoods are already light. get a clue.

Re: carbon fiber hood installed *pic* UPDATED

TruthSERUM has spoken. He's right, rice isn't "all show, no go" it has to do with aesthetical add ons like supra spoilers, louvres, cf hoods, "vented panels" etc. Just like ****, I know rice when I see it. That hood is RICE. Just because people with more expensive cars also rice their [censored] up, that doesn't mean its any less of rice.

In case this has alluded some of you in your attempts to do everything and anything available for your cars - there's this thing called "understated elegance." Some mods accentuate the lines and curves of our car, while some bastardize them. Most notably are some recent front lips, which are just hideous and definately belong on a Civic.

Serum is right about our hoods - they've already been designed to be lightweight. So if you save 5 lbs, what have you gained? An ugly hood, that's what! But I guess those of you that would actually shell out for this mod are more interested in the bling bling CF hood aspect, right?

For the record, I've never seen an M3 with a CF hood either. I'd suspect that if someone has had a CF hood, they painted it the color of their car.

H8r signing out.

Re: carbon fiber hood installed *pic*

CF Hoods' prices vary significantly. The reason we see some for several hundred dollars to several thousand is explained by the quality of the carbon and the method of weeving. For example, some companies make "carbon" fiber wings for $250, while picking one up from the major Japanese tuners can easily cost $1000+........that's in the quality of the cf. Very often, the cheaper hoods have defects in the weeving or will later bubble and discolor because of the amount of heat coming from the engine bay. VIS makes some of the worst quality kits and parts on the market, but that is reflected in their prices.

Re: carbon fiber hood installed *pic*

I think we need to drop the point of having a useless CF hood and look at the point that its his car, his mod.

And HELL YES this CF hood is rice.

Re: carbon fiber hood installed *pic*

Thank you all for all your comments, critiques, and, those that are few but none the least, support. When I decided to go along with this hood I knew there was going to be some that would love it and those who would hate it. As you most of you would agree it does really come down to whatever you prefer or even whatever you are accustomed to seeing. A mod is a mod and a mod is to make a car just a little different from the other guy who has the very same car as you. As long as it doesn't hurt the car mechanically I don't view anything that anyone does to their car as a "bad mod" just for the simple fact that to some it would look like the best thing since slice bread and to some others they would view it as if the person was on crack for doing that to their car. Who is right, who knows? Just as long as the person is happy with what he or she drives. ...and personally, I'm pretty happy with they way my car looks, very JDM, lol. Most of you who drive this car probably aren't familiar with the heritage of this car. This is, without a doubt, a japanese car... and even shares a name with one of the greatest japanese cars ever built in Japan, which is the Skyline. Mods like this in Japan are considered to be appropriate and even exceptional. I know we aren't in Japan but some of us would like to stay true to something which is what this car is... a japanese car. Okay, with that all out the way, let's have some carbon fiber fun... just for the hell of it!!

silver carbon fiber.... oOOoohh ...ahhhhh!

close up

HUH! what is that? could it be a cf hood on a g35! hah! red carbon fiber on a red car... mmmmMMMmmMm

red CF OEM wing, crazy...

woah! how these get in here.... who cares! lol

the last three pictures were just "ewwww" to me but hey, whatever.. These pictures were all taken at SEMA 2003.
