Curious about beeping noise

When you first start your car, probably most cars a soft beep about 4 or 5 times occurs then it stops. No warning lights, not a problem just a noise that goes off everytime you first start your car... it goes:

beep.............beep.............beep............ ...beeep...........beep

Its a simple sound you have heard for years but whats the meaning of it? anyone know?

it means you need to fasten your seatbelt. try starting the car with your belt on and it won't go off.

yea i think it's the seatbelt too. i usually turn the key until it starts beeping, then put my seatbelt on, then the beeping stops. if you don't put the seatbelt on it stops after like 5 beeps, i think.

btw, is waiting for the car to "warm up" (putting the ignition on "on" position for a few sec rather than firing her up immediately after putting the key in) really necessary?

It's not really necessary, it just primes the engine fully before a start is initiated. But the car was designed to prime just enough without leaving it on the 'on' position because almost everyone just turns the key all the way once they get in.

I've heard that beep in all my INfiniti's and I assume that it's to do with the 'puter booting up.
