Re: it's official, coupe prices falling
I ordered my coupe in july, already had purchased two before this..a I35 and a g20 for my wife and i hardly got a hand shake (only kidding, good sales people), but I guess I got a lot less than most under the circumstances...didn't they make enough off me on the first two!

dopeymon - When I originally placed the order at the end of august, it was understood the purchase price would be MSRP. However as time went on, I noticed the dealers had more coupes in their inventory, and from reading the G35 forums here and on FA more people were getting deals. So I went back at the beginning of december and renegotiated.

Bought the wife a present today. DG, AT, aero, premium pkg, sport wheels. 1300 off at Ramsey Infiniti, NJ. Not the best deal but I did not have the energy to shop multiple dealers. Very uncharacteristic of me. A few years ago I would have haggled with 3 or 4 dealers.

I still don't believe there are any more discounts now than what has already been previously posted. Besides, what would make it official now? I would like to hear if anyone from Florida or California are getting discounts.

Re: it's official, coupe prices falling
prior to reading a june order/sept delivery, i don't recall seeing anyone get a discount off msrp on a coupe, let alone a 6mt.
now they are being reported more frequently. northeast, and texas. not sure if we had a florida

mike,
how amiable was the dealer to renegotiate

The sales lady didn't seem too pleased, but wasn't rude or anything. In a nutshell: I asked for 2k off, they came back with $1800. I found this acceptable and took it.

GG35, why don't you just walk into a dealership with "sucker" stamped on your forehead with bright red letters?
Seriously, how can you have a quote before going out and finding what msrp, what options are available, what invoice is, what promos infiniti might offer, what your states sales tax rate is, what licensing fees cost, what financing is available, etc, etc, etc?
If you have so much money that you do not need to take the time to do this, 1.) Why are you buying a "lowly" G35, and 2.) Why are you asking if you are getting a good deal?

gg35,
go to edmunds.com or kbb.com, punch in the options you want and see the prices.
add in your sales tax and about 100-200 for doc fees. then you will know

The only reason that dealers charge MSRP is because people will pay it. IMHO (and this is only MY opinion), anyone that pays MSRP for any car is a sucker. There is so much profit built into any car it's silly to give them all that money.
If we could only spread the word: do NOT pay MSRP!!! I know I will be hounding at least 3 or 4 dealers within a 200 mile radius when I buy my coupe. You can only get discounts when you are a serious buyer, but that said, there's no reason why someone wouldn't be able to get one for $500-$1000 over invoice. Best way to buy a car is at 8pm on the last day of the month and you being pre-approved for financing and ready to sign papers. Sometimes it's that one sale that they need to make the next level of bonus. ;-)

Whether you pay MSRP depends on:
1. how new is the car/what is the demand of the car - if a dealer has people lined up to pay MSRP (or even above), why would they "waste" a sale on someone only wanting to pay below MSRP?
2. number of local dealers - more dealers, more competition, lower prices
3. whether you are willing to buy off the internet (even then, it depends on points 1 + 2)

Big ham....you really don't understand what was happening in Los Angeles between about June 2002 and August 2003. You basically had two choices: Buy a coupe for msrp, or don't buy it at all. If you wanted a discount, you were always directed to the sedan.
