it's official, coupe prices falling
Re: it's official, coupe prices falling
actually, the pig is right. you go in late when they are about to go home, they're tired, etc.... they just want to make a deal. it happens.
ham, you shouldn't say people who pay msrp are suckers. in all honesty, i doubt most of us gave a [censored] whether we paid msrp or not, we wanted the car. most of us including myself, had the option to purchase a much more expensive car, but couldn't justify the needs and means, or wants! paying msrp simply didn't matter some. 1500 is not really a huge difference if you think about it. sure, it's great and all, but it's not something that makes or breaks most G owners.
of course that's my opinion, i mean no offense towards anyone.

Actually, even in LA you can get 500 to 1000 if you shop around and walk out if they dont give you what you want. They will call. Funny think is, they want you to bleave that the cars dont stay on the lot for more then a few days, but when I did an invoice check on a specific car, its been on one lot for more then a month!
But I know if I went in there today they would try to tell me it just came in.
The funniest part is they start calling you to tell you there going fast! Well, gee, if there going like hot cakes, why are you bothering to call me. Dont you have a line out the or hundreds on order for reserve!!!!!!

I dont understand what is so difficult to understand about past tense. My post regarding no discount was regarding earlier this year(and last). As far as I know, there are only two confirmed purchases below MSRP in So Cal prior to August of this year, and one of those was right when the G first came out.
No tactic was successful and there simply were not G35 coupes that sat on that lot. Not in Los Angeles area. OTOH, you were offered near invoice price quotes over the phone on the sedans.

I got a 500.00$ discount by accident. I went to Montgomery AL (90 min away) with the attitude of negotiating up from invoice like all the experts say. Had a very pleasant experience and the salesman offered 1000.00$ off msrp plus there doc fee is only 95$. Next went to Infiniti of South Atlanta (also about 90 min away) and had a classic snobby, wait a sec I'll have to check with my manager, trying to juggle two costomers at once, took 2 hours to get me in for a test drive, all around crappy time. They offered 200.00$ off msrp plus 500.00$ doc fee and other bull fees like etching which they refused to not do. So of course called Mont back only to find out the saleman had only been there 2 weeks and was offering me his best offer on a sedan and had not yet sold a coup. They were very nice about telling me the 6MT went for msrp period - man was I pissed, told them thanks for there time and fumed. Called the buying service at USAA (very reputable insurance etc.), spoke to a buyer who basically said they couldn't get any deals on the coups at all and to go with the lowest doc fee. I felt a little better knowing I wasn't getting screwed any worse than anyone else and was still thinking it's a ton of car for the money. Mont called me the next day saying they felt bad I was miss quoted and offered the 500.00 off so I ordered in September. I don't know what the world is comming to but I actually trust this dealership, at least as far as I can throw them.
04' 6MT Silver/Willow, Prem, 4 pc Aero, XM. No mods yet b/c it's comming 01/02/04 per dealer.

Re: it's official, coupe prices falling
Bought my coupe from Ralph Kinchen at Grubbs using VPP a week ago and drove it back to NC. None of the dealers in NC or VA that I talked to would do a VPP deal -- "we can sell every one we get." I got a little over $3000 off MSRP and free wheel locks too! (Ralph said Grubbs adds them to all their cars). BTW, I could have had it shipped from TX to NC for $650, but it was cheaper to fly there and drive home (also lots of shipping horror stories out there). And I couldn't wait to drive it anyway!
Merry Christmas (as you can see I got my present already!)...
