Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

Notice the blue "Drycharger" bag which covers the conical air filter. K&N says to replace them every 2 years to maintain their water-repelling properties.

Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

Here is a closeup of the drycharger from the front through the lower grill. Sorry its blurry, I couldn't get a clear picture.

This thing does sound awesome in the high RPM range. ANd the butt dyno says there is an improvement.

Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

And here is a poor scan of my one and only dyno run. It is after the K&N install.

It was done in 4th gear, which I guess reads a bit lower than the 5th gear dyno. But from what I can tell from other baseline 4th gear dynos, it added about 6rwhp. Maybe someone else who understands this stuff more can comment.

High points were 233.2rwhp at 6309rpm. And 209.2 ft-lbs torque at 4711.2rpm.

Hope this helps someone.

J.

Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

Could someone post pics of their Injen intake to compare?

orlimh- why did you choose the K&N over the Injen intake?

Wow, 45 minute install. That really is a snap to install. Thanks for the pics. I can't wait for mine to come in.

Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

If anyone has any questions about it just write. The instructions were so good from K&N that doing a DIY with pictures would have been a waste of time. It sounds strange and corny but they were the best instructions I have ever seen from any product.

Thanks, have a safe holiday yourself.

J.

Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

Lol, I'm still gonna take pictures of mine and post them when I get a camera... Mine is a blue one and has a AeM bypass valve between the two pipes. The 3" AeM bypass will fit the K&N CAI. I'll get pix soon.

Another picture of the Drycharger, which gives me some confidence while driving in the rain, but I still avoid puddles just in-case. I love this intake!

Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

The results are in. Check'em out yourself. The only thing I should point out is the fact that I already had a K&N drop in when they ran the first dyno so the actuall gains would be slightly more. They tested in 2nd gear @ 2500 RPM's
Stock: Max power: 215.8
CAI: Max power: 220.0

Re: K&N Typhoon Installed

Nice install fellas....

When you install the intake do you void any manufacturer's warranties?

Thanks.......Happy holidays!
