'04 G35 & Internal EZ-Pass - Perfect Together?

I've an internal EZ-Pass tag from my prior car, and was wondering if I need to switch to an external tag for my '04 G35.
According to the EZ-PassNJ website, the '03 G35 required an exteranal tag, but they've no info for the '04.

I suppose the best way to test out if I need it is to take a ride through a toll on the Parkway and see what happens. The only problem is I hear that Johnny Law is coming down a bit harder on EZPass chicanery, and or, Tom-Foolery.

since neither the technology on the car or ezpass changed, officially, you will need the external tag. if you throw the tag on your dash, it will work. if you tape to window, have it under dark border.
although i superbaby my car, i'd be hesitant to park it outside with ezpass screwed into license plate, just for the taking.

I had the same question back when I got my coupe (04').
I don't know where you are, but if you are from the tri-state area (NJ/NJ/CT), you won't have any problem with the external tag. I have mine glued all the way to the top behind the blue tint strip and it works just fine. No problems whatsoever.

An EZ-Pass rep told me that I needed an external tag. I chose the internal tag and posted it under the blue sun-shade behind the rearveiw mirroe on the windsheild and it works fine.

yea i put up a post about this before too. i ended up getting an external ez-pass for my accord so i can just switch it to my G in a few months. i think they prefer the external only because it's probably less error causing than the internal. its gonna look ugly with a black bar across my already ugly nj license plate in the front =\

I have mine with a suction cup holder thing that i got at r&s strauss. Its all the way up behind the rear view mirror and the sunscreen. Works fine had it in my g for a year now and haven't missed a toll. I am on the parkway daily, btw.

I have no problems with mine on the inside of the window on the tint strip either. Don't worry about what they say, you cannot be fined for problems with your pass unless you don't have your pass on you and you try to use the lane.

Re: '04 G35 & Internal EZ-Pass - Perfect Together?

Hmmm, could I be guilty for EZ-Pass recommending an external tag? A while back I asked them to send me an external tag, because I told them my internal one wasn't working (even though it was working). Maybe they put something in their system saying that the G needs an external tag . I just didn't want to stick anything on my windshield, so I asked them for an external one.

Great. Sounds like I can stick with my internal.

Infiniti should create an internal EZ-Pass option. That way
your car doesn't have to look like a super-model with a pimple.
