You need FI. True Story.

This has been discussed MILLIONS of times and the G35 just isnt the "sports car" the M3 is. Prally why its 60 grand and one of the best cars/motors/chasis of all time.

With that being said, going FI will put you ahead on one on a straight line for sure..The 333hp in the M isnt all THAT much...FI G35 will do 400whp easy, so in that department your good. On the track though, it will still be VERY tight (equal drivers) due to the balance of the M and its underpinnings.

I just always thought it was cool to be 'close' to M3's in my coupe...i mean, i spent 38k for the G and am only a few ticks behind - M3 set you back 60k so whos really ahead?

Isn't changing the gearing on our car a few thousand dollars anyway

You're almost enough to get a vortech kit from there.

1,300 for gears. I could do plenum and other stuff for under 2600K plus I already have exhaust and intake. Just trying to see what gears would do for my car.

I wouldn't mind it; maybe my buddy with his mach 1 would be up for it.

3.9 gears would help you stay close to even like they all said, but I would think UTEC, headers, exhaust, intake and 3.9 gears (until 100) would have you either dead even or a foot ahead with a 6MT, and even or not getting pulled on with an AT.

NA, I raced 3 M3s...I beat each one of them. I know I shouldn't have...but if you suck at driving, than I can beat you. When ZFest was in Orlando, myself and 2 other Gs all took down an M3...classic!

And I had my first FI race against an M3 last night. Man, that felt good. He had no chance.

Not true.

the E46 M3 will WALK an an EVO9 after 60 mph. Sure, the EVO has that killer launch which gives it a quick 1/4 mile, but it doesnt have that punch in its engine to let it beat an M3 at high speeds.

Our G35 6MT's actually have a trap speed similar to the EVO's. Highest I've seen a stock G35 6MT (rev-up) trap is 101; Evo @ 103; and M3 @ 107.

Quote: M3s are actually not that responsive to mods since they are basically "tuned" to the max from the factory. It is very hard to get HP out of the cars.

So true.

The fact that a 3.2 liter engine is already pumping out 333 hp is ...

I doubt mods could make it significantly more powerful.

We complain about how irresponsive our mods are to our engine; Now imagine how M3 owner's must feel?

From what i remember the m3s have a pretty high redline dont they? I have never been in one so idk, but thats why they have alot of power as well. If you have 3.9 gears on a 5AT youre going to be moving pretty well given that i think the autos produce more torque at lower end than the 6spd. Raise your rev limiter to 7200 with the u-tech and then put all your breathing mods on there. You wont have a problem keeping up imo...
