So my friend just got a 2006 M3 Performance Package

If I put 3.9 gears + Tuning + Plenum + Lowering the car + I already have Exhaust and intake will I be able to keep up with him.

BTW I have a 2004 G Auto.

What would I need to keep up or pass him without turbo or supercharger.

Thanks,

Nick

PS: More info on gears please.

I have heard that you can pull an extra 40HP just from adding the "Skyline" badging to your car....

not being FI and auto is surely not somethign in your favor.

m3=evo's with intake

with that being said, I have a very good friend with an evo9 and ive got a few mods (sig). I can keep up but hed beat me in a race.

go FI and call it a day, then youll have your fun

M3s are actually not that responsive to mods since they are basically "tuned" to the max from the factory. It is very hard to get HP out of the cars.

I can keep up with m3s, but it is very tight. I always get them off the line by 2nd gear they pull me in and then up to a 100 his rear bumper is even with my front bumper.

My other friend has a 645I and when we race its dead even all the way up to 100 MPH.

To tell you the truth with 3.9 gears i bet you will be able to keep up with him...you wont be passing him by any means.

I mean im keeping up with M3s and i have an intake, spacer, and exhaust...by keeping up my front bumper is dead even with his rear bumper give or take a couple feet, but thats as close as you get to "keeping up" in my book.

Taking some unsprung weight off the car with hopefully lighter springs, a good tune with a u-tech, intake, exhaust, plenum, 3.9 gears...im going to say its close. I bet the most of us will be suprised...i say you will keep up with him.

EDIT: If it is the convertable then i would say you will def be able to keep up with him. With about 300 extra pounds on the same car, it makes the percentages higher.

You can do enough NA mods to beat him...but hands down, FI will be far more bang for the buck and more fun!

Ya, not a chance unless you spend at least 5k in mods which is FI or building the engine (a lot).

all you guys that say you cna keep up with m3's, you guys ever try launch- to 120mph? my buddy has a s52 (e36 m3 engine) powered m-coupe and i can stay even up till 2nd gear and he just rips from there.

you're not talking about an m3 correct? just a 330 with the m3 perf. pack? or an m3? if it's just the 330 with the pack you could keep up with him with all that but an m3, you're gonna need some boost
