The smell is normal and many others have also complained in other postings. I don't know what it is but it smell stronger when driving on wet roads which has snow melting.

The smell isn't normal because this smells only happens in the G. I drive a 6mt. I have that weird smell too. It could be the tires just burning. Our cars were manufactured with bad alignment.

-------

One of the worst experience I had was closing all the windows, and turning on the fan (taking in outside air). Anyways, while driving on the freeway, all of a sudden, this BAD horrible burning smell developed and was stinking up the entire car. I had to roll down the windows and turn off the fan.

Something is burning not sure what it is.

I never had this problem with my previous cars.

I've been running my car with the windows closed since I bought it a month and a half ago, since its pretty damn cold here. I always have my air on 70* on low, and I've only smelled this two times. Once when I first bought it, the first few times I took it to WOT, and then again a few days ago after I took it to WOT after driving really lightly for a few days because of the snow / bad weather.

I'm convinced it's just light buildup, but who knows. I've also noticed a very strong smell from the washer fluid coming into the car whenever I use the washer fluid. It's stronger when sitting at a light or parked. Smells like vinegar which is probably the cleaner in the washer fluid.

You have to remember that it could be cars in front of you or just a smell in the area you are driving in. I've gotten paranoid in the past thinking something is wrong when I get a bad smell like that, then realized it was just a rig with some thick exhaust smoke up a mile ahead.

Thats the only rubber that i could see it being since the pully speed obviously increases with the engine, especially when its sudden wide open throttle

Or when you hit a patch of ice or snow causing your wheels to kick very fast before the VDC kicks in. This problem seems to be winter only. It only happens when there is snow or slush on the road. I don't think it's buildup under the car, I am starting to think it is the belt slipping every time I hit a slippery patch and my tires spin.

Going to tighten the belts tomorrow, next time it gets messy out there I'll give you guys an update.
