Hopefully someone with a service manual can answer this one... The Infiniti website lists VINs, like JNKCV54E14M309362.

In the above example, I guess JNK means Infiniti (JN1 = Nissan) and the last six digits are the serial number of the car. But what do the other letters/numbers mean for the G?

Understanding the last 6 digits designate the serial # and circa 30,000 coupe units built to date, how does one determine vehicle build # (sequence) with respect to coupes from the 6 digit serial # ?

DTW_flyer,--- My Coupe VIN ends with: 206884. I know from when it was produced that my vehicle was 6884th produced. The column next to the 6 would be 10k's , and the first column (2) is described as a 'constant' and is a 'fill in' #. It has no bearing on the sequence, and may be any digit.

I understand what you wrote but I'm befuddled; w/ my VIN # (mfg 07/03 ...300827) implies build# is 827 of the 2004MY? So then how many 2003MY were built?

And maybe the answer is not ever clear because of the Sedan's serial # convention? Somebody pls. help me

From the explanation in the ESM, I would say your ride is #827 in the sequence. If that's true, and since yours is a 2004, then Infiniti started producing the new models in June or July.
Anyway that's all I can add. Maybe someone else here has something, or perhaps the dealership has more info.
