Trunk & Intelligent Key Question for Valet

so do you have to carry around the intelligent keyfob and the valet key? if you put the trunk switch in the glove box to off, YES it does deactivate the trunk release on the driver side, but if you give the keyfob to the valet, he can just press the trunk release button the keyfob...if you give him the key from the keyfob, and keep the fob, he can just open the glovebox and pop the switch...

is there something i am missing or is the only way is to carry the valet key also? i thought the keyfob serves as a valet key also??? wats the point in carrying both..

you turn off the trunk in the glove box and lock the glove box. then just give him the valet key not the fob. he wont be able to unlock the glove box to flip the switch with the valet key or pop the trunk just start the car with the valet key.

No he's saying that.. if you lock the trunk in the glove box, then lock the glove box with the KEY.. then take off the keyfob, and give him the key that he can just go to the glove box and unlock it since you just gave him the key, and then undo the switch, and open the trunk.

Your best bet to the OP would be one of two things, 1) buy one of those hidden key black boxes that have the magnets, and keep the valet key in it somewhere, OR 2) keep it in your glove box and keep it locked unless you need to get in there. Other than that.. You're SOL

last idea was good...i guess you HAVE to have the valet key..the keyfob serves no purpose for valet. i will have to keep the valet key somewhere in the car.

I was under the impression that a valet key could only do one thing and that is start the car. I didnt know it would open the glove. That would make no sense.

valet key does not open the glovebox..just starts the car..i was saying i have to keep it in there so I don't have an extra key on my keychain..
it would better if the damn keyfob trunk button could be disabled somehow with that trunk switch in the glovebox.

mine came with 3 keys 2 regular and a valet key in a leather carrying case i put the valet key on a key ring with a quick detach and when i go to a restaraunt with a valet i take it with me but otherwise it stays in my gun safe

When you buy something to "hide a key" I strongly recommend you buy one of the nylon pouches that attach with velcro and mount it up front somewhere so when you are driving in rain or through any standing water it doesn't get blown off by the water splashes.
When we took delivery the dealer told us to leave the fob and take the key out of it after turning the switch off and locking the glovebox.
