120 mph Today

Car only has 1000 miles but I couldn't resist. I'm slowly opening up the car. 120 mph at about 4500 rpm's. Rock solid, not a hint of lift. Anybody know the top speed on thesr cars? Are they electronicaly limited? Had a M3. Although the M3 was a razor, very agile car. The G35 is almost as good. I think the extra 300 lbs has something to do with it. The G35 does it with finesse, grace and comfort. I road raced open wheel cars for 10 years and I can really appericiate this car. I love this car.

Electronically limited to 155, I believe.

This is all the automatic gave me, around 145 MPH. The manual "G" is supposed to be more, around 152 MPH

I don't believe the top speed is limited at all.

I've read tons of articles from several different magazines, and only once or twice have I read that the top speed is electronically limited. Most articles claim a true top speed of 155-158 MPH, meaning that the car just couldn't push past that speed.

Out of all the car mags, I trust Car and Driver most. And they claim that the G35c is not limited.

But who knows for sure??

The "set" light isn't on, only the cruise light... and according to the manual, you can't set the cruise higher than 89mph.

Re: 120 mph Today

Hitman, I too have heard both. Isn't the TS ECU supposed to "remove" any speed limiter? Wonder if anyone with the ECU has been able to top 155mph.

Yes it removes the speedlimiter. Not sure how fast you can go without a speedlimiter... my guess is 170mph with some small mods like exhaust & intake

Re: 120 mph Today

I've hit 145 on my 6MT with no signs of slowing down, ran out of road. This car can push more than 155. Infiniti states that it is limited at 155. I've read a couple of posts of the coupe just dying at 152-155 when it hit some sort of "barrier."

Re: 120 mph Today

I have been able to get my auto with some mods up to 151 or so.... was accelerating very slowly at this point.... there was a lot of oncomming wind shear that day though...
I bet with some nitrous and a new ecu and freer-flowing exhaust we could hit 190+
Who wants to try???
Gonna need aftermarket GPS calculated speedometer!
I'm not going to have my n20 for a few months.

Peace
