How fast can our G be without FI
How fast can our G be without FI
I was wondering how many horses the G35 coupes can put out without adding turbos or a supercharger. I'm trying to decide which direction i want to go with my mods...thanks
Re: How fast can our G be without FI
It all depends on "How much money do you want to spend?" You can make any NA engine faster than FI if you have the money to do it... Sky is the limit, until you run out of money...

Look at the slightly larger Porsche engines to get a feel for what an engine our size can put out. If you built up an all engine car, you'd probably be pushing close to 3.7liters and maybe 400hp to the wheels with proper engine management. I think its definately possible with a good engine builder. If you're looking to bolt on headers, exhaust and intake, then maybe another 40hp at the wheels, maybe less.

Really, raising compression will add 100hp? Do you have any data on this for substantiation. Please explain.

Bolt-ons won't get you 40 hp at the wheels. From all the dynos I see, you are lucky to get 20 rwhp out of an intake kit headers and exhaust. Even adding a crawford intake manifold, UDP and a Technosquare ECU hasn't got anyone 40 rwhp. This is only a good start. If you really want to serious, bypass the shorty headers and go directly to full length headers that elimiate the cats.
To push the envelope, you will need to get into the engine. Every point you can bump the compression is worth 10% more power. There is unfortunately a limit for pump gas. But moving from 10.3:1 to 11.3:1 is reasonable with a set of dome pistons. I don't think you could mill the heads enough to get this without running into piston-to-valve clearance issues. This is the same compression ratio that type 996 911's run. Next cams are a must, but to get them to really work you will need headwork, valve springs and port matching with a custom ECU. The injectors will probably need to be upgrade from the stock 315cc to 370cc(Z32 TT) or 440cc(SE-R) units. Figure to be working with a 7500 rpms limit with this setup. The cams with headwork and proper tuning are worth 50 fwhp alone. For power, if you use the right cams, have the machine work done right and tuned right then expect to hit 300-320 rwhp. So what would it cost to do this feat? About $10K or over twice what that supercharger kit costs...and yes the bolt-on supercharger kit(Vortech or ATI) on a stock car is still faster.

My personal favorite answer to this question....if you have the cheddah to do all this...why didn't you buy a faster car in the first place?
Seriously.

Re: How fast can our G be without FI
Cause this car is Bad *** and I'd take it over cars twice the price or speed!!!
Besides you didn't answer the question posted.....
What about the extra noise with FI, are there any that sound good???
