Thinking of selling my G v.resale value

I'm thinking of trading in my car. I have a 2006 g coupe 6speed with premium package, aero package, and sirius satellite radio package. how much do you think I can get if I trade in?

www.kbb.com ...

So you're selling it, only because of resale value?

Not sure if they have adjusted their figures to reflect this, but for the past few years you would be hard-pressed to get a trade-in value (from the dealer) that's only $1500 less than the NADA trade-in value. It's been close to $1,500-$2,000 less, consistently, for a while now. So the figure might be a bit higher than what a dealership will be willing to give you. Just keep that in mind. All of the leased cars have saturated the used-car market with tons of low-mile, 1-3yr. old models.

Same with Kelly Blue Book, but there has always been about $500-$1000 difference in values given by these two sources. http://www.kbb.com

You can minimize this drop by selling to a private party.

All I can say is sell in private or come up with a huge downpayment. You will be upsidown on that trade no matter the condition of the car. Unless of course you paidoff the car or you owe less than the actual value of the car. I got rid of my 04 G with 30k miles on it last January the market is so soft on the G it's not even funny. No demand for a use G at least not as strong as some other cars. Dealer was giving me 16 or 18k I forgot already to which I said no. So after trying to sell it for 25k in private I ended up selling it for 23500 without the mods that I did to it. Goodluck with your sell I hope you get what you want and do better than I did.

You could search for a private car broker to get rid of your car. But to get the most money for your vehicle, you're better off selling to a private party. I worked for a dealership, and you don't want to trade it into a dealership as they will not offer you anywhere near the amount that you deserve. Best of luck, I was dealing with the same situation in the beginning of the year buying a house.

To give you an idea, I just sold mine for 28k. It was a loaded 05 coupe 19k miles (nav, prem, sport, aero).

THANK YOU! This was the type of response I was looking for, not reasons why I shoudldn't be selling my car. I understand that you guys don't want me to get ripped off but I know what i'm getting myself into and i'm willing to take a small hit. I realize that I will not be able to get an even trade so... anyways, thanks for all the help I got from everyone.

This is a terrible time to sell a 2006. You already got reamed on taxes, and as they say, as soon as you drive it off the lot it loses 20% of it's value. On top of that, the G37 is coming out. No matter what you will not be happy with the price you get.

That's a good price, as the dealership can't sell it for much more than that. I have the same car with 15k miles with all options but navi and bought it 2 months ago for $25K.

are you kidding me dude. go on autotrader.com or cars.com and look at the "for sale from dealer" a lot of those rides are going for about 30-33k for used '05's and '06s. I understand a car loses its value when you drive off the lot but 20% is A LOT to lose. basically, you're telling me that if you buy a $100,000.00 mercedes benz only to drive off the lot and it only be worth 80k... yeah... NO!

Resale value can vary widely depending on what area you live in, mileage, condition, selling private party or trading it in to a dealer.
