getting NOS on a lease?
Re: getting NOS on a lease?
I leased a supercoupe back in 91, took it straight from the dealer to a body shop. Did major work on this car. Do what you want, if you have a decent lease you can sell the car off before lease end and maybe make a few bucks.

Re: getting NOS on a lease?
I think that is really stupid and a total waste of money. Why are you going to spend all this money on something you don't own? If you wanted to mod your car then you should've bought it instead of leased it. That's like renting a house and painting the outside of it. lol You don't own it so you can't make changes to it. Just my $.02. Sorry to sound mean. But I can't believe how many people leased their car because they could'nt afford the payments on a finance and then they go and do all these mods to it but end up taking them off when the lease is up and they're stuck with parts that they have to sell or just keep and lose the money. Whatever you do, good luck man.
Re: getting NOS on a lease?
i agree with kjbalto... why do mods on something u dont own? and of all mods nos??? if u wanted a fast car... sry super fast car you wouldnt have gotten a G35, a G is a mix of speed/luxury/performance... NOS is for cars that are all out speed... if u wanted speed u shouldve leased a evo or sti or sumptin along those lines... at least a 350z or sumptin... but thats my opinion
Re: getting NOS on a lease?
What you do to a lease car depends on your circumstances. I lease my vehicles for my business. I frequently buy them out and pass them down. The lease is a write off. I would not hesitate to mod the car. I will drive my G for 4 years and my son will take it after that, pay a fraction of the market value for it and know it has been very well looked after.
I do agree though that if you are just going to turn it back, why blow the money.

I do the exact same thing as Purplepiepete. It makes the most sense for me and I am going to mod my car as much as I can afford.
Do you people that finance your car actually think that you "own" the car??? Just miss a few payments and you will find out who truly owns your car. After all is said and done nobody owns the car until it is totally payed off, but with a lease, your payments are always lower and even when you buy it out the payments will be lower because the value of the buyback is much lower.
Leasing is a great option if you can write it off through a business.

Re: getting NOS on a lease?
I think everyone has made the point that I was going to make: if you knew you were going to mod the car you got why'd you lease it? I used to be a Nissan salesman and can tell you that, as far as our contracts went, modding the lease was a great way to get nailed with penalties and lose the car
As far as using NOS, I don't particularly like it but I know that if you're on the show circuit ya better have a bottle or three in your ride...Thanks, "2 Fast 2 Furious"...I've never liked squeezing as I thought of myself as a purist and NOS as cheating, but I've recently been altering my view...Building a NOS engine, while of course technically different from building a supercharged or turbocharged motor, is fundamentally the same as it is forced induction and requires engine management, dyno tuning, and as I've said time and time again, internals upgrading...Sure, you can use stock internals but why not go all the way and upgrade? However, I actually like using the stock flywheel...In my opinion that particular component promotes better reliability and for forced induction systems I think it's a good idea to keep it...Anyway, I have a newly acquired respect for all of you squeezers

DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO DO TO THE CAR EVEN THOUGHT ITS LEASED!! YOUR ACTUALLY SAVING MONEY ON THE PAYMENTS SO AT THE END OF THE LEASE TAKE THE OPTION TO BUY BUT FINANCE THE REMAINING RESIDUAL!! SO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SAID IF YOUR GONNA MOD THE CAR WHY DID YOU LEASE IT ARE ACTUALLY GONNA PAY MORE IN THE LONG RUN BY FINANCING ...TRUST ME YOU'LL ENJOY YOUR CAR AND MAKE MONEY IN THE LONG RUN...DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ABOUT NOT MODDING LEASED CARS..DO WHATEVER YOU WANT IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY!!!!!! YOU ONLY FRIGGIN LIVE ONCE SO ENJOY THE HELL OUT OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: getting NOS on a lease?
How long is your lease, and what did they tell you was its residual value at the end of it? Infiniti's traditionally lose value quickly, so they probably gave your car a low residual value and high lease rate. If Kelly Blue Book's projections hold up, however, the G Coupe will actually have the highest value retention in its class, meaning the car's actual value could very well exceed its residual value at the end of the lease. Meaning you'd be a dope not to buy the car at its residual value, assuming your lease gives you that right and the dealer/bank doesn't have the right to refuse to sell it (which they will, if it has greater actual value).
So basically, this discussion could be academic.

Re: getting NOS on a lease?
I agree with you guys who are leasing the cars and writing if off as a business expense. But from what I see, most of the people who are leasing these days are young kids who can't afford the payments of financing and they lease only because the payments are lower. They have no write offs and they have no intention of buying the lease out at the end. Therefore, that is a total waste of money. They have the attitude that they don't care about wasting money by leasing because "I can have a new car every three years" So to me, that is just ridiculous. On top of that, they want to mod the car and then give it back. To the guys that are leasing and then writing if off, I understand where you're coming from.
Re: getting NOS on a lease?
Newbie here...you actually (I believe) have two questions....modding a leased car and N2O...There has been enough replies to the lease/mod thing but I am really interested to hear opinions on NOS for the 3.5. My first concern would be longevity and proper build parts to sustain a NOS set up.
I guess it's not much different ( to the engine internally) than a Scharger or Tcharger....
Thoughts?

Re: getting NOS on a lease?
you lease a car so you can wail on it for 3 yrs. and never worry about nothin. it's a great feeling. always under warranty, something new every 3 yrs, impress your neighbors. all it costs is a new set of 18's 1/2 way thru. as for the payment forever, who cares.
Re: getting NOS on a lease?
It's not much different as far as the issues you need address when building a nitrous engine...It's forced induction so the fundamentals are the same...I believe forced induction brings along with it the requirement of replacing and upgrading the engine internals...Some people don't do it but with the abuse you'll be throwing at the engine it's simply smart building...You need to tune the car...You need dyno time and precision tuning unless you'd like to run your car with the constant threat of detonation...Air/Fuel ratio must be monitored...All of this has been discussed before with greater detail...Basically, building a squeezed motor is like putting together a finely tuned turbo or supercharged motor
