Sedan -> Coupe impressions?

Hey peeps,

Last night, I was idly thinking about swapping my current 2005 sedan for an 05 or 06 coupe. Granted, I know the new coupes are just around the corner so I probably wouldnt make the switch until that happened.. but still, I'm curious about any general impressions that any of you have had after making the swap from sedan to coupe. Are you happy with the move? Any regrets?

Jake

PS - If any of you coupe owners have non-sport springs to sell, I'm in the market!

however sometimes its a hassle to use the trunk space - and if your carying people around i hate that stupid automatic seat

it's so annoying espically if its snowing or raining.

yup yup. id now prefer a sedan over a coupe. Id just like to wait a bit because as we all know, first year of most any car isnt its best year.

I've gotten a few G35 sedans as loaners and liked them, but nowhere as much as my Coupe. The sedan is a fun car, but it just lacks that standoffish sexy appeal of the Coupe. Anytime I've ever gotten back into my Coupe after driving a sedan, I also fall in love with the exhaust sound all over again as the most immediately noticeable factor when I start it up. In my experience, other people don't seem to notice the sedan that much, whereas with the Coupe.. people(at least where I live and drive) always look back at it and many offer complements or ask about the car.

The stance of the Coupe is also more aggressive in terms of clearance between the bottom edge of the cabin floor and the top of the roof(Coupe is about 4 inches shorter than the sedan in that regard).

The sedan seems to have less blind spots than the Coupe, particularly in terms of rearward visibility such as when changing lanes on the highway or backing up, etc.

My friend who autocrosses quite often and has driven my car before a few times drove the loaner once too and he felt that the sedan was a lot rollier in turns than the Coupe is. I didn't really notice it that much myself, but I didn't really take the sedan too hard into corners like he was.

I had an 03 sedan. I've had an 06 coupe for about a year now.

The coupe looks better and it is much more stable on the highway. You can really feel the difference in the handling compared to the sedan. The ride in the city is a bit more jolting. The back seat leg room is good for a 2 door but still I wouldn't want to sit back there myself. The trunk is useless.

I would be 100% happy if my car didn't knock. And I thought they had fixed the brakes but the 06 has the same rotor warping problem that I had in my 03. Kinda lame for a 35K car to knock and have warped rotors within 5K miles. I don't think I'll buy anymore Infinitis.

In TrueDelta's reliability data I often see a first-year bump in problem rates--one new Nissan model will look pretty ugly in the upcoming May results--but the 2007 G35 sedan is looking solid so far. Won't have a sufficient sample for official results until August, though.

I don't think we are talking about a ground up new car here. It looks like pretty much the same car with some style tweaking.

I went from an 05G35x, though I've driven the normal sedan many times as well. I am happy with the coupe. With the rear seat folded, I can put my bike sans the front wheel in my car car. Couldn't do that with the Sedan.
The coupe is not any lighter, though I still feel it's more fun to drive overall and I like the looks a lot more in G coupe form.
I miss the way the door on my sedan opened and closed as the coupe doesn't have window frames. Additionally, I miss the Infiniti Keyless entry system which is the best in the biz and the AWD for Tahoe.

Other than that, I like the coupe better in almost every respect.
That being said, if I were buying today, I'd strongly consider the 335i coupe, a C6 or the G37. However, I'm still content with this car.
