Ventilated/cooled seat mod?

Yup, I did manage to find that in my searches, see at the very bottom the "channel molded foam"... hopefully that is a feature in the G seat or something that can be replicated.
I love how sites like that are so incredibly vague and corporate... I want a "buy replacement parts now" link dangit!

haha I heart Engadget.
My uncle actually asked whether the Lexus seats sucked air or blew air in case of passenger gas
hehe... actually might not be a bad way to do things for the seat mod... then again after an extended period of time your seat cushions may absorb the fart smell
so nevermind.
... not that I have gas problems ...
okay I'm going to stop now.

Also on the mtv show they did this using perferated leather and a couple desktop case fans. It's not hard at all if you have a good plan.

From that pic, in the M35/45... the heating AND cooling are taking place via a fan and moved air through the molded foam.
Since it is heat only, I would assume the G35 has wiring grids (like an electric blanket) in the foam to warm the seats... therefore, no molded foam channels or design elements of integrating a fan or for moving airflow.
It wouldn't be expensive in parts, but would take a lot of labor and time to integrate a system into the G35 seats. Your best bet might be to try to source the M35 parts, and integrate them into the G35 seat.
Good luck.

when ever its really hot, I take the vent on the left near the window and angle so it blows air off the side of the seat and onto my back or leg. it does the trick somewhat. the lexus gs seats cool really well too, the first time i sat in em it surprised me I thought i spilled a drin kin my lap lol

There is about a 99.9% likelihood that our seat foam does not have any channels molded into it's interior structure whatsoever. From my experience, seat foam is usually rather dense compared to say...the stuff in your couch at home—so getting air to flow at any rate through the foam itself will be next to impossible. I guarantee that the channels in the above diagram connect to the 2-ply distribution layer which has probably even MORE smaller channels to distribute and speed the velocity (slightly). It probably is more than just a flat bag with holes perforating it. It must be relatively durable in it's structure to maintain airflow under pressure from the driver's derriere
I hope its easier than I'm anticipating that it will be!
BTW, i was just mentioning earlier today to a friend how the ONLY thing on my brother's IS250-AWD that I would want other than the Bluetooth is the ventilated seats!
