My dealer told me that he ordered my 04 6MT TB Coupe back in October. He recently gave me a VIN that ends in 805759 which identifies the 5759th car built. I have checked about 32 dealerships within 150 miles and the highest number I've come across is 803213. I also know of a verified October order that has a VIN about 3000 units lower than mine.
I need to know what other folks have so I can decide if the dealer was just stroking me about the October (versus a Nov. or even a December) order and since those orders are now being delivered will mine be here as primised or will it be here in March or June?

C'mon guys help me out here. Just tell me if anyone has a number in the 5750 +/- 500 range and if your delivery date is anywhere near the end of January '04 or is more like EO January '05?
I'm dying over here! I think it is the cruelest thing to tell a guy that his G will be here in 3 weeks and then blow him off to 6 wks. I'd rather know that it is March so that I can conserve my nervous energy until the beginning of March.
A good doctor would never allow a mother to gestate for 11 months, would he??!!

I ordered my car back in july 03...took delivery on Oct. 31st my vin is in the 6000's...I live in N.J. if this helps you out at all...2old4this

P.S. the first # in the vin should be 3 not 8

Thanks for your reply! You are one brave soul. It appears that if a post doesn't imply something tittilating or endorse extreme behavior it is doomed here.

I was, however, interested in the '80' series, e.g., 80xxxx. The 3xxxxx series have been in the high 6 thousands but I haven't seen '04s with numbers greater than 803500 around New England, New York or New Jersey dealerships.

My concern was that since my # is in the 5500 range, that depending on production rates, mine could be delivered in March or something.

I just got off the phone with Harte Infiniti. I decided to pull out the stops speak to someone other than my salesman. Fortunately, my salesman is off today so I didn't have to do an endrun while he was there ( don't yet want to burn the bridge until I'm on the other side).
I'm happy to say they volunteered to look up the delivery date:
instead of the 3rd week of January I'd been promised, the new real date will be the week of *February 6*..sigh..at least I can breathe easier, until they change the date to March! (The original real date was supposed to be in December and then revised to early January the late January.. )

 

Interesting. If that is correct, my September order/October build '04 is #600.

 

Sorry for the confusion...I was under the assumption it was a coupe you were waiting on....either way it seems pretty safe to assume if you order in the end of a month the order doesn't go in until the beginning of the next month..and then production is the following month...and then its shipped...that seems to take anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks as well....so roughly 3 month wait is the norm...but all good things come to those who wait so just hang tight and you'll enjoy your ride that much more when you finally take delivery!!!!LOL 2old4this

I got my car off the lot after checking the Infiniti site. Its VIN is in the 802xxx range. Picked it up just after Christmas.

 

Ordered mine July 03.Built Sept 03.Came in 11/21/03. Vin 83xxx.

04 Blk.Coupe/6mt/nav/aero/sat.

 

Mine arrived in Dec 7.. #1302.

Yes, I ordered my Coupe the first week of October and I was told that my car was included in the dealerships Oct order. On the day that I ordered it, they told me it would be a January delivery. I have to admit, I thought it would have arrived the end of December or 1st week of Jan., but there has been other October orders that I read on this board that claimed they were also receiving delivery in Jan. I believe the October orders that were delived to the West Coast arrived this week and the East Coast were receiving delivery around the 3rd week of January.

Based on your information, although I ordered on 9/26/03 and although the salesman insisted that he ordered in October, I'm convinced that my order was likely placed in November, earliest. Now that I have finally gotten a delivery date I can somewhat trust, I'm ready to receive the G.
As I've said b4, the wait is not the problem. It is the lack of information for nearly 3 months followed by inconsistent information that did not seem credible.

When I sent him an email saying that the VIN did not appear consistent with a mid January delivery date he did not respond. He still hasn't.

Now that I know february 6 is the likely week I'm cool with it.
It is phreaking -8 degrees F in my backyard in Bolton, CT and snow is on tap for Monday/Tuesday...I think I can hold off on the G for a little longer.

 

i was just curious if there was a way to tell that my car was just recently built in and shipped over rather than the dealer switching it with another dealerships demo or something. Or the car has sat there for months collecting dust or been test driven. Well the usual new car has less than 10 miles anyways.
