I don't think tiptronic has any negative effect on your transmission. As long as you dont switch to often between D and tiptronic

As for revs, well it all depends on your driving style. So for cruising shift around 2-3K. But you punchin that ****.. obviously hit the red.

doesn't matter how often you switch from d to manumode.

shift whenever you feel comfortable..

where did ur friend get these wrong ideas? there's no way infiniti would put it in production if it is bad for the engine or trans.

You honestly couldn't be any more wrong.

You can get some stupid bad shifts and really mess up your tranny.

Just using it wont mess it up, but when you downshift and get those clunks or goofy kinda feel to it... then you definitely did damage.. My tranny only lasted 31,000 miles... 29,000 of those probably tiptronic.

While we are on this topic, you think there is a way to put the sedan stearing wheel on our coupe for paddle shifting?

or something like that.

I just started using my triptronic, and i love it. I guess aslong as u dont go into the red, ur fine. I noticed that for first and second gear on auto it shifts at around 2500 rpm. So when I wanna give her I let it rev upto about 6,000 rpm. Pulls alot more. I'll even drive around in 2nd gear at about 60km/h with the revs up around 3,000 rpm just cause I like to hear that music note from the exhaust. lol.

Different car but when I get a G it will probably be an AT so I am going to look into that mod. Here is a mod they did on a different car with a triptronic type of trans that they were able to install paddles onto. Doesn't look all that hard or cost too much. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/sho...t=paddle+shift
