Dealer offer. Good or bad
Alright guys, your experience would be appreciated. I have been lurking following the board for a while taking in everyones problems and love for the car.
Purchase- 7k down, 60 months, sticker (CB willow 6mt) 33065, they will sell for 31995, discount of 1070 (500 recent grad, 570 additional) a payment between 510 and 515 estimated.
Lease-48 months, 7k down, 15000 miles, roughly 360 a month.
The thing is that the car is in stock now, I would really like to get it but I do not want to rush into it. I love the CB as you don't see to many colors like that. If you could all let me know what you think on the discounts and everything please let me know.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Dealer offer. Good or bad
Seems like a decent deal. I didn't think they were discounting the 6mts at all, only the 5ats. I'm probably wrong though.

there is a new 6MT on the lot that you like?
and they are dicounting it over $1000?
and you didn't take it?
do you have any idea how many people on here had to order and wait for their 6mt?
you better hope it is still there when you go back.

Good point on the coupe or sedan question but I assumed it was a coupe since he posted in the coupe forum.

I think 7k down on a lease is too much. I learned that when leasing never pay above drive off fees.

Re: Dealer offer. Good or bad
Thanks for the replies everyone, the car is a 6 speed coupe. I was planning on purchasing a car in the middle of March due since I this will be daily driver and the incompatibility of the Michelin Sports and snow but I really want this car.

If you want the car in March you have to order it now. Dont ever put money down on a lease - if you wreck it the next day, you are SOL

They're charging you about 8.3% APR interest rate on the purchase, based on a financed amount of $24,995. These days, that's pretty high. Although I don't know if your dealer included any sales tax when he estimated the payments. Assuming a 7% sales tax, then your APR is about 5%, which is pretty good. You gotta find out how your dealer calculated the monthly payment - what were the total purchase assumptions, interest rate, etc.
The price is good, but try negotiating the interest rate down. You should be able to get 5-6% if you have a good credit rating. Even 4.5% if you really shop around. If you're going to buy, you don't have to use Infiniti financing, or the dealer's bank. You can get your own outside financing from your bank, credit union, etc. The Internet has some good car loan sites too that can get you good deals on interest rates.
You don't have much negotiating leverage with the price, but you do with the interest rate and financing. If the dealer won't back off on the interest rate, tell him you'll arrange your own financing, but still want the car. Also, make sure you ask the dealer for ALL the assumptions he's using in the loan calculation. A lot of times the salesmen like to negotiate with you on the monthly payment, while they're screwing your behind the scenes with high interest rates, etc. I caught my dealer playing games with the downpayment assumptions on my lease. I was not happy.

Re: Dealer offer. Good or bad
put down as little as possible and spread your 7k out over the payments.
if something happens to the car and it is totaled, gap insurance covers remaining payments left, but, not the amount you put down.
04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

Re: Dealer offer. Good or bad
i don't think that is correct, dude.
Your insurance is going to cover the VALUE of the car... has nothing to do with payments or amount owed.
If you owe more than what the VALUE is... then gap insurance will cover the difference between those 2 figures.
