Frozen Windows

I finally got my car on Tuesday night... Thursday, Friday, and today the windows have frozen all the way up. Is there a solution to this? I did a search, and it looks like I'm just supposed to deal with it.

There must be something I can do to keep them from freezing.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Frozen Windows

Sometimes when I leave my car out, I cover it and then the windows and doors don't freeze shut. If they do its not as bad as if I had left the car out. Its been in the single digits and I have had problems as long as its covered...

Good luck!!!

Re: Frozen Windows

Does it mess up ur door since they are dynamic windows? Like wen you open them it has to slide a bit down.

Re: Frozen Windows

That's why I'm looking for help. I don't want to mess my brand new car up because the windows aren't going down that inch. So far it seems ok, but I think this is going to be a real problem.

Re: Frozen Windows

Dave,

Drop your windows by 1/4 in. This will by-pass the automatic operation and ensure their is no body damage when the windows are frozen.

Re: Frozen Windows

That's what I do: Drop the window slightly to bypass the auto seating of the window.
Once you get good at it, you can drop it just a fraction so that the window is still seated against the rubber thereby keeping the weather out.

Re: Frozen Windows

Ok, to answer some of your questions:

No, I don't have a garage.

No, I'm not moving to California.

No, I don't cover my car (and I'm probably not going to start).

Thanks for the information on the workaround, but the dealer needs to do something about this. I will call them in the morning.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Frozen Windows

Burge or Burdge "barrior prem." size 4 <---- it covers the entire car

5 layer breatherable with a cotton under layer... Its soft and not harmful to paint, but like anything you must becareful to not get it durty or you might scratch the paint.

I think it was $80 back in 2002-2003, I use it on the coupe now.

I don't know whats out there now, maybe someone could recomend something better!

(other) You don't have a garage, OMG!!! You bought a G w/o a garage, don't cover it, and don't live in So Cal.... May the G35 gods have mercy on your soul!!!

Re: Frozen Windows

I had the dealer throw in a Coupe cover with the deal. They retail them for like $300. But that $80 one sounds more than adequate. I've only covered it when there was snow coming, and its been fine. Has anyone had any 'issues' with the custom Coupe cover?

Re: Frozen Windows

As far as the low temps go. Over the past few days the windows have stuck briefly and then let go, the keyless entry didnt work once, and the low tire pressure indicator has gone off sporadically. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with these kind of temps more often.
