My brother-in-law is a stickler for regulations and he takes his job way too seriously (i.e. he's a tool). Nevertheless, in Pennsylvania, side markers are required to reflect amber. Most cops have better things to do, so they just let it slide. I actually believed the amber reflector to be a federal mandate, but I can't say for sure so I won't argue the point.
