Went to local Infiniti dealer during lunch today to check it out first hand. First, it looks like this is across the whole Infiniti line (looked at G35c, G35s, and M45). Second, it wasn't as bad as I thought. When you're in the driver's seat, it's not that noticeable (distracting). I still like graphite + willow pillar/ceiling compared to willow interior + brown dash. Looking at the 350z interior 360deg view, it appears this is limited to Infiniti vehicles. So my only conclusion is that they didn't do this to save money (after all, it's only fabric and plastic) but was a design decision. I would have preferred an option, but it's not a deal breaker (my car is still on order)

Is that also a pre-production pic of the Back Seat? There is a middle seat belt and no cup holder/first aid kit???

2003.5 G35 COUPE. Carribean Blue/Graphite/ Premium/XM

 

It's brightens up the interior....it's pretty much standard on many new cars now. I have seen black interiors with lighter headliners/and some times pillars on the z, mazda 6, and a vw passat (or was it a jetta?).
It's nothing unique.
Personally I like the lighter ceiling but I can't stand that the carpets are grey and not black...

 

You really dont even notice it when driving or riding in the car..

I added a 3rd (center) rear seat to accomodate my kids.
The ability to convert the coupe to a 5-seater was the deal cincher.

As far as I know, RugRatCoupe and I own the only 5 seater coupes.

Was watching motorweek on speed channel and it looks like Mercedes also has the two tone interior for black (they call it charcoal) where the ceiling and pillars are willow. So it looks Infiniti was inspired by Mercedes.

 

It's the same on the sedan too. I just had to check mine and sure enough it's willow. I thought it was gray of some sort. No biggie - it still looks great.

 

aren't the BMW 3-series coupes the same way...??? I have a friend who had a 2000 323 coupe...silver w/ black interior...could've sworn the top was tan/willow...
