So it seems pretty easy to break into this car. I was sitting inside my girlfriends house in Newark,NJ(yeah I know Im asking for it here) and I came out to find my Gcoupe with the windows down? Seems like they pried open the driver side door lock pretty easily and popped open the car that way. The alarm didn't seem to go off or at least I didn't hear it. Anyway, they stole my crappy cell phone but nothing else of value.

Questions:
How did they get the windows to go down without the keys?

Now I have to get a new doorhandle/lock. Any ideas on how much that will run me?

Why didn't the factory alarm go off? Maybe easy to bypass?

Re: Coupe broken into
I think if you stick something into the key lock, turn it clockwise (open it), and hold it for a few seconds in the open position, it will roll down the windows. But then again, at that point, if you got to turn the lock, and open the door, you don't need to roll down the window...

- This is just a guess

yes, 02+ maximas have this same problem. They just short the wires that bring the windows down with the key. Very short sighted design.

Hold on how did they get a key that makes the windows go down wouldnt it have to turn the lock for that to happen. I understand if they shorted something, I dont know what or how but the key part I dont get.

Re: Coupe broken into
he means they popped they whole thing out, giving access to the wires behind the lock. pretty easy from that point.

Re: Coupe broken into
yes, and the factory alarm will only go off with if the doors or hood are opened. This is exactly why I added a shock/impact sensor to my alarm.

Same here. That's why I got my Clifford Matrix 3.5X. Shock/impact sensors and I have a proximity alarm as well.

I've tried a lot of those alarms, but the bottom line is - if somebody wants to steal your stuff or your car they won't care if it goes "beep beep", you have to freeze them in their tracks once they've boosted it. This is why I invested in the ultimate car security system: The .45 calibre Mark23. With 10 in the clip, a semi-automatic rate of fire covering 138+ meters I have no trouble stopping thieves in their tracks if they've got my stuff. I'm not interested in getting called on by the neighbors for putting a bullet in the back of some dude's cranium - so I threw a SOS-45 silencer on that motha. Anyways, a good car alarm w/ proxy sensor is halfway to full G production; get a "piece" too.

Near Peck Ave on 12th Street. I was in the house for 2 hrs. I never heard any alarm go off but my alarm light on the dash is not blinking, its solid red.

Re: Coupe broken into
Hey Chris do you think your sensor would go off from the amount of force it takes to pop the key hole? I'm planning on adding that to my car but just wondering how sensitive it was.

Re: Coupe broken into
at the sensitivity i have mine on?? hell yes, pretty much any bump/jolt to the car and it will go off... and i'm not even at the max. The horn for our OEM alarm is loud too!

The sensitivity is fully adjustable on the sensor.

override?
Is it possible to disable this feature (rolling down windows with key?) On my other car, I disabled the ability to disarm the alarm by unlocking with the key, which I think is a similar vulnerability.
