thx madscientist... Ive thought about buying it.. but since the weather in mtl sucks, corrosion is bad here.. the maxima i have started rusting after 3 yrs and I bought it new!!!
Also I thought that the customs gonna be complicated with the inspections and duties.. I am not sure about it, dont u think?

I did check the online infiniti.ca inventory in Ontario.. i saw like maybe 8 pearl whites total... the dealer said that it is not accurate since they dont update it... *rolls eyes* really?!

 

If you live in Canada and don't have experience with RWD, I don't think it's worth it to get the G. If you get winter tires, you'd probably be fine on plowed roads, but let's say you need food and the shopping center parking lot is still covered in 7 inches of snow - winter tires aren't enough, you stop, you stuck.

 

well, good news then, infinitis have a 4 year warrenty on corrosion for the sheet metal onthe body. I think nissan's do too, so you may have been covered with that maxima. I lived in Rochester, NY for 14 years and I know what kind of crap the DOT will throw down on the road!!!

as far as bringing the car across the boarder, just google "bringing car bought in united states into canada" and you'll see a lot of stories of people that have done it. I think the main cost is the 6% VAT and a few hundred for fees. Other than that I don't think there's any other added tax. You may want to find out if the navigation system works in canada because it may be something you don't need on a US model.

I know for a fact that the online invantory thing is accurate. When I went to buy mine i told the dealership I wanted a 6mt DG with Premium, they came back and told me none were available. I went online and found one in the next city over!!!! All you need to do is pick up the phone and call to findout.

 

The problem is that most rust comes from little knicks and stuff as a result of rocks or other road debris tagging the frame and removing the paint or sealant coating. They only cover corrosion that is a result of faulty workmanship on the car.... which that does not fall under. Just something you'll want to be aware of.

i still remeber looking out from my room and watching those Mercedes trying to go uphill in the snow.
man~ that was a really funny thing to watch....... seeing everyone trying to go out, but only 2 out of 10 cars can actually make it over the hill to the big street.

If I were you, I won't buy the 5AT, because I am driving that right now. I live in Vancouver. I have to replace my brakes, whole thing, rotor, pads, twice in 3 years. First replacement is under warranty, this time, I need to pay $700. I only drove **16000km** and brakes due. RiDICIOUS!!

6MT has Brembo which should last a little longer.

 

The Brembos actually wear out obnoxiously fast... and none of them are covered under warranty. Fortunately, if you're willing to do the install yourself, you can get away with a 4-corner pad change for under $200 in parts(assuming you don't get new rotors).

 

she can only get brembos if she buys a 6mt 2003 or 2004..as for ur thread..i bought the same car knowing i'd have rear wheel drive with horrible winters(i go to school in upstate, ny) and we had a ton of snow this year. i have the stock 19's on, but bought a set of winter tires and wheels to throw on the car, i didn't hav any problems as long as i didn't drive too crazy..i even drove on valentines day here(anyone who lives in upstate ny knos wat it was like that day) when there was at least 14-15 inches outside and snowing heavily and i made it alright.

 

Winter tires are a must if you drive in the snow with a G.

 

For sure Ill get the winter tires, even my stupid Maxima cant drive with the 4seasons ones.. so imagine the G!

There not much hills in montreal, unless u go up north for ski... but why would I go there with the G anyways??

If the winter tires will work fine in winter, than I am ok...besides in winter I dont drive crazy anyways with the maxima, I was almost rolling at 20km when the roads had 15inches of snow.. didnt even press on the gas.. just let the car roll on the roads and steer lol
